What advice do you want? A periodic tenancy won't cost you anything but you don't want a periodic tenancy. You want a fixed term but you don't want to pay for it. When it's suggested you ask for a longer fixed term since you need to pay you're too afraid to ask for one.

Yes Pixie we had to sign a new tenancy as the new landlord cleverly gave us 2 months notice to leave then got us to sign a new tenancy with the rent increased by £75 a month, thats how he managed to up it so high by giving us a section 21 first then saying if we wish to stay we would have to sign a new tenancy. We wanted to sign another 6 months as there is more security in this than a month to month tenancy, e.g. if they wanted to evict us lets say next month we would have 5 months left on the tenancy still instead of them only giving us 2 months.
Guest101 I know no one is asking us to move out, I was saying it before anyone on here suggested it.
If they wanted to evict you it would take 6 months to do so.....0 -
I'd love to talk to the landlord direct as I'm sure I could sort something out then, but only issue is I don't have the landlords details, the letting agent has never passed them onto me and won't as everything is done through them.
As for the LL's detals, write to the agent and ask for the LL's address. The agent has 21 days to provide it or face a criminal charge. See
Landlord & Tenant Act 1985 section 1
Only you can decide what to do. All we can do is explain your options, and the pros & cons of each option.0 -

My advice I wanted was stated in my first post, I asked if the landlord and letting agent was allowed to ask me to pay for the landlords cost as well as my own.
I want a fixed term and I have agreed to pay for it, I agreed to pay for the £60 cost. But then was told the landlord does not want to pay his cost and has asked if I will pay his also making it £120!
I do not want a month to month tenancy, who would? Much less security in it and with the way my letting agent and landlords are I want something that protects us from being evicted within 2 months, as look what happened before he wanted to up the rent at such a cost he served us a section 21 notice of 2 months. Where as if we were on a 6 month tenancy we would have longer.0 -

I do not want a month to month tenancy, who would? - most people. You can leave with one months notice, eviction takes 6 months+ Much less security in it and with the way my letting agent and landlords are I want something that protects us from being evicted within 2 months - it's impossible to be evicted within 2 months. , as look what happened before he wanted to up the rent at such a cost he served us a section 21 notice of 2 months. Where as if we were on a 6 month tenancy we would have longer.
Perhaps you should research eviction some more0 -
Can you please explain to me how eviction takes 6 months? If I am served a section 21 giving me TWO MONTHS notice to leave then how does that take 6 months?
Assuming the s.21 notice is valid, many aren't and therefore no order is granted, you then have 4 weeks until the order runs out, and then another 4-8 weeks for bailiffs.
So yes, 6 months is probably an understatement0 -

You can either
* agree
* refuse and leave
* refuse and stay (periodic)
