Reminds me of being in Australia as a student in the 80s and meeting a guy who was mega excited about going to pick up his first car - a Mk3 Cortina. He told ne the good price he was getting - I did the currency conversion in my head and told him that was 1 1/2 times what it would cost in UK. But when I looked in the local paper - he was getting a good deal!
So I guess it's a case of local market. If the retiree had taken over z1a's Peugeot it might have been a good car for the climate but I wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly had to have lots of extra expensive paperwork as a personal import.
Hope the Liana isn't an ex-BBC car
certain cars are much more expensive in Oz, to the extent when a friend of mine relocated there we looked into running an import company, me sourcing in UK and shipping to him to sell. However the import process was a nightmare and very high taxes so we didn't bother.0
