Omg - how much???
Ex colleague of mine retired to live in Lesbos about 4 months ago, not a dummy, aerospace factory manager and a good engineer. Decide he wouldn't want a car over there, so sold his to his Son, I bought his wifes because it would've been rude not to at the price he wanted. I tried to pursuade him to drive the one I now have over, ideal car for there - 2ltr 307CC.
Anyway he keeps in touch and told me a few weeks ago that he now wants a car, quite a remote village he lives in. Just been in touch to say he's now picking one up tonight, can't back out because apparently buyer and seller have to meet at some officials office to do the transfer.
The car he has bought is a Suzuki Liana - his description - 2003, 170,000 miles, a bit battered and noisy "undercarriage" and only 1350cc"
When he told me how much is when I said "back out".
I know prices in Greece may be different but WOW, cash as well, as you probably know Greeks don't like paper trails.
I'll let you knowledgeable lot guess at how high a price he paid.
His brain must be swimming in Ouzo. Have to go out for a couple of hours, then I'll tell you what he's paid.

We could start a sweepstake, nearest to the actual price wins a year's supply of ouzo courtesy of z1a.
My guess is 2000 Euros.0 -
Reminds me of being in Australia as a student in the 80s and meeting a guy who was mega excited about going to pick up his first car - a Mk3 Cortina. He told ne the good price he was getting - I did the currency conversion in my head and told him that was 1 1/2 times what it would cost in UK. But when I looked in the local paper - he was getting a good deal!
So I guess it's a case of local market. If the retiree had taken over z1a's Peugeot it might have been a good car for the climate but I wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly had to have lots of extra expensive paperwork as a personal import.
Hope the Liana isn't an ex-BBC car
I need to think of something new here...0 -
It's well known that they have different values in Lesbos.0
