DVLA Fine
Comments

Hi I have a question on behalf of my partner, she has received a fine from the DVLA for not sending off the log book after the sale of her vehicle, she had sent it off it was lost in the post or whatever and DVLA said they never received it.
I am pleased that DVLA are enforcing the rules, I didn't know they did that. I don't think I sent anything off, about a year ago, when I sold my last car.
So perhaps your partner is being fined because they had issues with that particular vehicle.0 -
Not at all it's my understanding the new owner has sorn it but thanks for your comment0

So how did : the new owner get off DVLA, the paperwork to SORN it ; if the DVLA didn't get the OP's partner's paperwork, to say they'd sold it ? Don't DVLA think something is wrong, if they only get half the documents ?0

I just can't understand how in 25 years and 100+ vehicles, each purchased and sold, and dealing with tax, SORN, V5 changes, plate changes, and all the other rigmarole, I have never yet received a fine or had a serious problem with DVLA.
Aside from a V5 going missing on its way to me a few years ago, which wasn't the DVLA's fault, just following the simple instructions they print on their forms, or more recently using the online systems, has meant I've been able to undertake probably 3-400 transactions with them without any issues at all, but every five minutes someone is on here complaining about how they 'lost' this or that or made a 'mistake' processing the other...0 -
Mostly trying to wriggle out of responsibilities arising from their own mistakes. Things do occasionally go wrong or missing and I have sympathy with people who end up having to deal with it, but so many of the queries on here are from people who've messed up and think someone else should carry the can.BeenThroughItAll wrote: »every five minutes someone is on here complaining about how they 'lost' this or that or made a 'mistake' processing the other...0 -
Remember, the new owner can declare SORN with the green slip.
Things do get lost in the post. That is why a High Court Judge deemed that any letter posted was deemed to have been received 48 hours later.
This was ruled in a case involving the same circumstances as the ops.
The DVLA can take way over 4 weeks to send letters of acknowledgment when dealing with keeper changes.Never Knowingly Understood.
