This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

            Morning all.
I was woken at about 4am by a huge thunderstorm with enormous lightning strikes which cracked the sky and lit up the sea. One bolt caused a very short power cut which turned on my wifi controlled lights and the DAB radio. Thunder had been rolling around most of the night but the lightning was unexpected.
After going downstairs to turn off the light and stop the phone from beeping I'm now still lying awake listening to the radio. Watching the lightning was lovely for a while. All is calm now.
Later this morning my joiner is coming to look at one of the window shelves which needs replaced or repaired. There's a gap which goes into the wall space and causes a terrible draught right at bed level. Last winter I stuffed it all with cotton wool and bubble wrap, this year it needs sorted.
After that I may just snooze!
Happy Wednesday to everyone.0 -
            Good morning everyone :hello:
I went to bed very early last night as I was upset so I am up early this morning keeping Steve company before he goes to work. I will jump in the shower in a little while and get dressed as I have a busy day ahead. Jemima is dropping the grand children off as she is working today and my sister is coming for a cuppa before she takes me and Becky to see her psychiatrist. We should be back by lunch time so I can resume babysitting duties.
I am going to make red thai chicken curry for tea as I want to use up some of the opened jars of pastes in the fridge before they go off. I also have a musclefood delivery due today so that will need to be unpacked and sorted before it goes in the freezer.
Right, I am off to make a cup of tea in the peace and quiet. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
            Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dull and overcast but quite humid and warm.
Dinner last night was pork steaks in gravy, mash and veg. Tonight I'm not sure what I was going to cook I didn't get the meat out of the freezer so that's not going to happen, I do have some other options, if not other inspiration comes to me, it'll be egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans - I also have some new potatoes, so I'll slice them up and cook them too - actually this is what we'll have. I'm working all day, so it'll be an easy meal.
Work yesterday was slow but had times again where it was all or nothing, this is always our quiet time due to the school holidays and Bank holiday coming up this weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off Gers.
I went back to work on Monday and by midday, the novelty had worn off. So far, I have done two 11 hour days though today will be a little shorter, though still a longish day. Tomorrow too, hopefully. It has been a bit tiring, so all I've done has been come home, have something to eat and then read in bed.
It has been very warm and muggy, the air feels rather stale so am hoping for a fresher day today.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
            Morning,

            Morning All
I was woken up early too by the thunder and lightening, it was pretty impressive!
Tidied up the hanging baskets when I got home from work yesterday, 2 have gone in the bin - not enough sunshine to keep them going. Also washed the front door down and wiped the windowsills, the windows really need cleaning but that's for another day. Must have had a burst of energy as the ironing is alll done too.
Hope your DH is ok csarina, look after yourself.
Here's to a better day dumpling.
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
            Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting the thread Gers.
Dumpling I’m sorry that Becky is having such a difficult time, it sounds like there is support in place to help her now. I’m not surprised that your anxiety is really bad with everything that you are dealing with. Try to take care of yourself as well as everyone else.
Coxy11 I raised my computer monitor a bit as well yesterday and it is much better using the varifocals. I used to be fine with them and then just started to use my computer glasses at home.
JackieO it sounds like you are having a good holiday.
As the housework is up to date I’ve got a nice easy day today. I’m not sure what to do yet, but I’m bound to find something to do.
Time for some more tea and breakfast first though.
I hope that you all have a good Wednesday whatever you are doing.0 -
Good Morning all, and thanks for the kick start Gers, well itsbeen quite a humid night but I did manage to get some sleep and only woke twice for a loo break.:) looking out of the window opposite my bed at the moment the skies are looking rather overcast but mo sign of rain ,which in a way would freshen the air up a bit. Probably be going into Newport this morning with DD to get Mikey's new school shoes. We get home on the friday as he goes back to school on the Monday Its the only thing he needs at the moment ,apart perhaps from a new school bag as his other one is falling apart. If the weather brightens up then its probably the beach this afternoon. No shopping to get as the frige still has quite a bit left over from yesterday's BBQ.
I'm just sitting up in bed with a nice cuppa and a couple of ginger nuts brought to me by my son-in-law, I could get used to tea in bed first thing its rather a treat.
Gers that storm sounds spectacular, hope you day gets better today dumpling and Karcher if you feel like a rant honey then rant away we don't mind and sharing a moan sometimes puts things in perspective
Hope the rest of you have a good Wednesday, the week seems to be flying at the moment.
Take care everyone
Cheers JackieO xxx
P.S. little Lexi's sore paw has recovered, helped by lots of tlc from the family and cuddles by DGS Mikey who s a very gentle hearted little boy.She also got a few little treats as well. The other little dog Teddy was quite put out I think, as he is the 'cute' one who gets a lot of attention. He is only as far as we know about a year old and is like a miniature dulux dog and likes to be the centre of attention. Lexi at 8 is a rather more staid middle aged lady dog who looks down her nose at his antics. They are quite funny together as I always think of Lexi as Mrs Bucket and Teddy as a bit of a Del Boy
:):) They both have bags of character though .:):):) 0 -
            Morning all,
Youngest will be dealing with the fallout from his accident today. He received a copy of the form sent to his insurers yesterday. His black box confirms he hit the other car at 5mph yet they are claiming all sorts of injuries even though neither of them have been checked out by a doctor or had time off work. At the time of the accident they said they were fine. Still, worse things happen at sea I suppose.
Grump had a funny turn at work yesterday ... something else for the gp to check out. Meanwhile, I'm recording his bp which is sky high. He has told me to hold the appointment making till he has finished the job. There's only a couple of weeks left apparently. It would help both him and me if he stopped loading the shopping trolley with chocolate, cakes and everything else that takes his fancy when we go food shopping. My weight goes up and down like a yo-yo and his is just going up! He knows the risks of having another stroke, it's been spelt out to him often enough but refuses Doctors advice.
Not a lot needs doing in the house today though I could do with mucking out Youngests pit...Bit hard when he's still in it.
Onwards and forwards
