  • Hi,

I'm just saying, if you talk face to face with owner, when viewing, and make a verbal offer, and he accepts, then shake hands and deal done.

You then go to your solicitor and he puts in a written offer.

Looking at a second/third hand house is no different, you offer seller what you think house is worth, if he accepts, deal done.

As edddy has already mentioned above, many people use an EA of one sort or another to avoid having to deal directly with the buyer.

Not everybody is comfortable with such negotiations, not everyone has the time to deal with a sale themselves.

Selling a second hand car can be an utterly painful experience!

And I'm just saying most people don't like doing that :) They pay someone to do it for them. I think we'd better leave it there as going round in circles.

I think the confusion may be coming from the Scottish vs E&W system. We (England) don't get our solicitors to put in written offers.
