Have to say given half a chance I'd be outa here like a shot - london and the south east is getting far too cut throat for me!0

i'd defo choose Reigate over Redhill.
and yes many many places are quieter/less chavvy/less trouble than croydon! lol
but there's loads of nice places, just all depends how much you got and how close you need to be to certain areas??
Epsom/Ewell/Cheam Village/Purley/etc etc all these have fairly good links into london, taking max half an hour.
if it's schools you're after then personally Purley area would be the choice for me, got plenty of good quality grammar schools in/around there:
Wallington County Grammar School (boys - my old one)
Wilsons - wallington (boys)
John Fisher RC - purley (boys)
Whitgift - croydon (private boys)
Wallington High School for Girls
St. Philomena's - carshalton (girls)
Nonsuch -cheam (girls)
to name but a few good schools, these are all inside the M25.0 -

Redhill mining town?
dont know much about it but i do know that from "father to son the blood
runs thin."0 -
I live literally 5 mins south of Redhill, i would agree, as someone else has said, Reigate is much nicer.
The station is good for commuting albeit a tad cosy in the morning, what with college students taking up the whole platform.
Local schools are ok, but steer clear of the Warwick school.
St Bedes would appear to the be the best of the local schools.
Its not villagy at all and personally i dont like it, i prefer Reigate or nearby Horley.0 -
How about Merstham? It's the stop between Redhill and Coulsdon. I used to live there and have a family friend that still does, and it's got it's own station so great for commuting. Used to be relatively villagey although I understand it's developed a bit more now.
Edit - just noticed the above post - I used to go to Warwick School (many moons ago) and would second that!Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0 -
I'm moving to Redhill in the near future (hopefully)...
The town really looks like it needs a facelift, but it's near Reigate which I think is a charming little place.
Does anyone know what the area Whitebushes and Salford are like???
Thanks in advance,
Mike0 -

Love the West Country - trouble is the work is up here and having taken 5 years to get our own business established it's much too risky to start again somewhere else!0

Whitebushes is a smallish area, no real shops but its on the A23 so buses are easy to catch, same too for Salford, it has a station (if you can call it that) but its every other train that stops there.
Its a fair area to be honest, it really depends on what you are looking for.0
