    Hi CB1979 - so do I (Hooley)!!
  • Is it a nice place to live? how convenient is it commuting to London from there? how is the quality of life really - it doesnt strike me as being villagey - I could be wrong?

No Redhill isn't villagey but there are some nice places around it. It has a mainline station but not being a commuter I'm afraid I don't know much about the services on offer but think they're pretty good. I think it's fair to say Redhill is in need of a facelift which is beginning to happen albeit very slowly. Probably depends on whether you want/need to be in the centre of things or are happy to travel in as necessary. Also house prices tend to be cheaper in Redhill than say neighbouring Reigate/Bletchingley/Nutfield, etc.
  • Thanks MaryBishop
I was at Nutfield Priory yesterday - very nice! We are really looking for somewhere we can settle and start a family so we are looking for somewhere that is family orientated hopefully ok/good schools.

Mixture of schools - if you're church goers then St Bedes is excellent. Oxted County also has a good reputation (sorry these are secondary schools). Plenty of primary schools around but a bit out of touch with them now. If you're thinking of starting a family and schools are important probably best to have a look at the schools (I know you can't always go by results but what else do you do!?) and then look at the local area.

Reigate has more of a small town feel (more upmarket than Redhill) with some nice shops/cafes/restaurants and a station too (not sure which line though). And then going along the A25 out of Reigate towards Dorking and beyond there are some beautiful villages (but very pricey!).

Lucky you being at Nutfield Priory! As I say Nutfield is a nice place with Redhill just down the road.
  • I assume it is quieter than Croydon?
