Brittany ferries holidays

Want to book a week early September next year. I know it's cheaper to do a holiday as ferry on its own can sometimes cost as almost as much as ferry and accomadation!

When is the best time to book?

I've just noticed that the ferry with accomadation is on sale for next year.
I didn't think it was available to book till around December? Is it better to book now for best deals. Looking for a week in southern Brittany b&b.

You're right they are very good value.

Although it doesn't apply to all properties, the best deal I've had is 25% off. That seems to be a regular thing so just keep checking the site.

Not sure if anyone lese has had a better deal.

I'm on their e-mailing list and at 3.15pm today they sent me news of the usual annual " 20% off" holiday cottage packages in France and Spain, if booked by 19th Sept:

"Save up to 20% on 2018 holidays in France, Spain and Portugal

As a valued customer we wanted you to be among the first to know that a great selection of our sail & stay holidays are now on sale for next year.

Our preview holiday collection includes a mix of over 800 country cottages and hotels throughout France, Spain and Portugal...

...PS. More coming soon… If nothing takes your fancy, don’t worry, more great value holidays will be available in early October."

We tend to wait til they do a similar 20% promotion on Hotel and Ferry packages. In the past few years these have announced in November with a 3-4 week window; but I don't recall the "cottages and casas " offer being this early so maybe the hotels deal will be too.

Buen Viaje. The link in the email takes me to

If anyone wants a discount PM me.

All my discounts for this year have now been used. In fact I have been warned not to give any more till next year!

Thanks for all of that. Really useful. I've found some good deals pricing up a week in hotels on b&b in Brittany, but just can't find the location that I want ATM. I might wait till november(thanks for that tip)
Ferry comes out at £310 for dates that we want with cabins both ways, and we can have a week of ferry and hotel for around £650, which I think would be hard to beat!would you say this was a good price?

Brilliant price! If you took the short crossing or tunnel, then paid fuel, it would cost more!

But one update on my post; I emailed 'em as the offer was ambiguous; they confirmed the offer (hotels & ferry, not just casas) which I always expect in November, is already open... til 19th Sept.

Dunno whether better offers will appear later; I suspect UK punters' bookings are down a bit cos of the exchange rate, so they are discounting earlier...?

But having just done a dummy booking for May next year (£1200 for a fortnight in Cantabria with 12 nights in hotels such as our all-world favourite remote country house family run; hoteldeloso.es ) that's still brilliant MSE value

Especially with meals around 12-15 Euros for menu del dia with wine on the coast!

As expected, BF have extended their 20% off 2018 Ferry-Holiday packages... now open for bookings by early Dec.

We've got three weeks away for about £1500 in May, and mates who are coming with us assumed that below £600 for the first week (car crossings to Spain, cabin upgrades and 5 nights B&B in a very good hotel) was per person... til they realised that was for the pair of them in their own car)

This may be a stupid question but are these holidays only 'drive' holidays or can you go as foot passengers?

I would imagine it’s a very expensive way of doing it.

Thanks... I don't fancy the idea of driving where I don't understand the road signs. I'll have a look for a coach holiday.

Not stupid at all; it's perfectly easy to holiday without a car, and still good value even though it doesn't seem to save much money; maybe £50. Price it online, then book by phone to ensure you get it right. I just did a dummy "foot-passenger" booking online in about two minutes, in the same hotel we've booked for 2018 and it came up at almost the same price as our car-hotel crossing; but still very good value.

And if you don't want to mess about with buses, Santander is a fabulous destination with several BF hotels within minutes of the ferry terminal; a few quid in a taxi or a a bus for little over a Euro!

To price it up, as I say, do a trial booking on their user-friendly website. Just click on the "ferry and holiday" button, select Cantabria in Spain, narrow it down by town - choose a hotel in Santander for at least three nights to get the discounts on crossing and cabins (the hotel Gran Victoria is great- we just spent three nights there and wish we'd stayed longer- views along miles of the Sardinero beach 200m from the hotel, lovely local bars and restaurants and an elegant landscaped prom).

Then, click through to ferry and enter "On Foot" rather than car. I strongly advise upgrading for £15 to an outside large outside 2/4 berth cabin- a window and no ladders! As I say, a saving of only £50 or so - around £800 -£900 for a week in early season; and that's for two with B&B (hotel meals are about £20 including wine!)

BUT don't fret about driving in Spain. If you can drive from Lincolnshire, round the M25to Portsmouth, the Spanish roads are a dream by comparison; quiet toll-free motorways (after the first busy 10 miles from the port) and wonderful easy mountain roads to cheaper, better hotels like our favourite one in the hills; Hotel Del Oso past Potes, 2 hours from Santander. And as long as you buy at least 3 hotel nights you get the cheap deal; with an added 20% off if booked in the next six weeks. Use their website and map search to identify hotels and ring 'em to book multi-site holidays as you can't do that online.

And no- I don't work for them!
