Whenever you are not happy with your insurance company the route to go down is a complaint in line with their complaints procedure
Then if you are not happy with the reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication at no cost to you0 -
Yes but i can only go down that route if i have made a formal complaint, i made one via webchat and then called back later to add to it but was told there was no record of a formal complaint, so i made another one with all the complaints on it via the webchat. They have no evidence of this. When you call to make a formal complaint you get put on hold for 1 hour listening to a message saying its quicker to use webchat for complaints.

I can not waste any more time on this i am too busy running my business in these uncertain times, I have over 14 hours of phone calls recorded and have already spent many more hours of my time on this and spent all my money on car rental,

I need car rental for 10 weeks to do that and i do not have the money in the bank to cover it. I had a courtesy car on the policy that i paid extra for but apparantly it is not coverd for fire claims????0

Hastings direct are now behaving like gangsters, my car caught on fire and i put it out, there was a melted wire and the damage did not look very severe. I called hastings to repair the vehicle, they collected it and told me they would do an engineers assessment within 4 days. I chased this up every 2 days as they were not giving me information. After 4 days they told me that the engineers assessment was complete and the car was a total loss. I requested to have the vehicle delivered back to me and had the day off work to receive it, it didnt arrive so i called hastings they said the car was on its way and i should wait until it arrives, it never arrived, after a few days the car was delivered to my home. I then spoke to hastings and they said they were not going to pay out as i had requested the car back before the engineers assessment could be done and they were not going to do an engineers assessment. I was actually told on 3 separate occasions that the engineers assessment was complete and it was a total loss.
They are required by law to do assessment within 4 days but after 14 days i had the car delivered and they said they had the car 2 weeks and didnt have time to do an engineers assessment.
Now they will not pay the 10k for the burnt discovery as they say i had the car back before they could do an assessment.
They have figured out how to rip people off, and i have over 14 hours of calls recorded trying to get hastings to do their job, i have now spent 2k on car hire as i have no car or money to repair it or buy another one as i spent all my money renting to get to work.
I also made 2 format complaints via the web chat, but unfortunately they deleted all that evidence and are saying i never made a formal complaint.
I do not know what to do anymore but i have no more time or energy to chase these people for my money, so i will wait and see what happens, then eventually, inevitably i can see myself losing the plot over these gangsters and i will be going out on a mission to get complete satisfaction at which point no amount of money in the world will be enough to give complete satisfaction so something extremely extreme i foresee happening to that hastings direct gangster office.
I have had car insurance 26 years and never made a claim and when my car catches fire these cheating lying manipulating gangsters find a stupid way to not pay out.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AS IT IS FAKE AND YOU WILL NEVER GET A PAYOUT AND THEY ARE CONVERTING NORMAL WORKING CLASS PEOPLE INTO TERRORIST THAT WANT TO FILL A TRANSIT VAN FULL OF EXPLOSIVES AND DRIVE IT THROUGH THEIR FRONT DOOR.
Can you clarify which law mandates that they have to do an assessment within 4 days?0 -
This is what was told to me when i first made the phone call about the fire, i was told 48 hours was limit before it had to go to the engineer and 48 hours later the report should be ready, so 4 working days0

mine went over 2 weeks and they never even looked at it despite me calling every other day to chase it up, they told me they had done the report0

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I terminated my car insurance with Hastings and they told me that I owed £59.54. I asked them to tell me how they arrived at this figure. They responded via email giving a breakdown but not detailing how the breakdown was calculated. They further stated that they were going to take this amount from my bank account. I replied to their email warning them not to take funds from my bank account without authorisation and again requested details of their calculations. I sent them 6 emails warning them that I would not authorise this payment until they responded. THEY IGNORED ALL COMMUNICATIONS AND TOOK MONEY FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY AUTHORISATION?
When I formally complained, Hastings stated that they had a right to take the payment as I had not disabled the Continuous Payment authorisation. I advised them that this was irrelevant as I had informed them several times IN WRITING that they were not authorised to take the money. IF YOU ARE UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HOLD A POLICY WITH HASTINGS DIRECT, I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU DISABLE CONTINUOUS PAYMENTS TO PREVENT THEM FROM PLUNDERING YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.
Hastings further stated that the email addresses I responded to were not manned. This was NOT shown on their communications. They ignored this stating that my emails would have been returned as undeliverable. THIS IS BLATANTLY UNTRUE.

We were with them for about 5 years. They had always been very good and in particular when we had to make a claim about 2 years ago for about £500. At renewal they have always worked with us to get a good renewal quote. However this time it was just a case of take it or leave it attitude and I honestly think it was because some advisers are working from home they have just become lazy in trying to help the customer.
We did leave it and went with Darwin and saved about £90.00 for the year plus £40.00 cash back via Top cash back.0
