O/S Daily Monday 21st August 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone,

Nannywindow I hope that the bruising is going down today. It’s just good that you were not seriously hurt.

    A welcome to Thrifty.

Unfortunately back to not sleeping. It's left me feeling really wrung out and exhausted again. I've been up since 5.00am and have been catching up on things on the internet and reading.

I have just been looking at the forecast for today, and it is for it to be cloudy and overcast all day. I had wanted to get some washing done and on the line this morning but will leave that for later in the week when the forecast is better.

After the busy family gathering day yesterday today should be a much quieter day, which is just as well because I’m still having sleeping problems, I was already tired after yesterday and now feel even worse, and I came in and went straight to bed last night.

At least I don’t have to do much today. I got most of the cleaning done before I went out yesterday. There are just a few small chores that I need to do. I also need to go into town to collect something from the pharmacy that they had to order in for me.

I hope that you all have a good a day whatever you are doing.

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light cloud here, but dry underfoot and a reasonable day is forecast, I have washing ready to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Lunch yesterday ended up being a late lunch but all eaten and enjoyed, the lamb shanks were delicious, we had mash, cauli in cheese sauce, carrots, broc, HG green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy - no LO's. Tonight we have fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Yesterday was a chilled day, just visited the parents and then was at home.

Back to work today - it has been quite quiet as it always is at this time of year, but we're having the odd day when it's really busy, so we never know what to expect. Once the children go back to school it'll get busier again.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

I'm up early to go for a swim before work, need to get back into a routine.

All the washing was dried outside yesterday, it didn't rain at all! Nothing to wash this morning, the machine can have a rest!

I had tofu in my stir fry yesterday as there was some here that I got for DD, it was truly horrible, all wobbly and didn't taste of anything. The rest can go in the bin. I hate waste but know my limits.

Hope you're feeling ok today Nanny and don't have too many bruises.
    Welcome back Thrifty.
Good luck with the broadband Gers.

Have a good Monday. Take care. XX

Morning all and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.
    Hello thrifty.
Nannywindows, hope your bruises are better today.
I'm back to work today and I should be all energised after a break but have had a dreadful night again and feel shattered. Time to have a shower, put on my big girl pants and get on with it. I can't tell what I'm doing today, other than one meeting that I am aware of because my laptop is refusing to connect remotely so I can't look at my calendar. Apparently the mobile usage password has to be reset but they are set centrally and I can't do it. Great.
    HAve a good day everyone

Nanny - hope you are ok xx
    Welcome thrifty xx
I too am back to work today and it's overcast and cold. Feels like winter already! Not looking forward to wading through the emails but am going in slightly earlier to give myself a head start.
Not sure what's for tea - will text DD and DS2 later once I've thought of something!
    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Thank goodness it's Monday. I can have a rest today maybe. Grump has gone to work ill. He's got an ear infection but won't have the time off to see the doctor. It's been steadily getting worse over the last few days and it's spreading down his throat. He's got a mole that needs looking at too. I'm making him an appointment. He'll moan of course but he'll go. Talking about Grump. He needs to find a new accountant. The accountant who has always done his accounts is now retiring. Well he's in his late 60s and I think he's finding his accounts a bit much. I need to get onto that today.

House isn't too bad considering I've done nothing all weekend but I've got a pile of laundry.

'Blackun' needs her nails trimmed. She's scratching the carpet again.

NannyWindow many hugs. Hope your ok today.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

  • Good morning everyone  Hugs to those who want / need one.

I've been up since 5 AM and drove my dad to the hospital at 5:30. He's been there ever since and I truly hope his surgery is going well.

Other than that I've walked the dog, made breakfast and cleaned the kitchen :D

Hope everyone has a good day x

Good Morning everyone, again sitting up in bed with my laptop .The view outside isn't inspiring at the moment as it bucketed down during the night, but it has stopped raining and is due to brighten up a bit at least. Everything is very green and smells wonderful though.

Last night a good game of rummy with the family which I very narrowly lost :) and a lot of laughing and nattering.
DGS Ben telling us about his exploits at Uni, and DGS Jack telling us about his boss at the cafe who doesn't seem to differentiate between the different milks and when asked for a fancy coffee will just basically give them all the same, and nod and say Yes,yss this is what you asked for.

He is an asian chap and hasn't a great grasp if english but smiles all the time at the pretentious customers who ask for fancy coffees with shots of this and about the certain things, they have, one young man who insists that he has to have milk in a certain way which is more than a bit silly, and it has to be at a certain temperature or his 'chakka's' will be out of alinement ??? DGS Jack keeps a straight face and always asks him about his chakka's :).

This chap always has to have two shots of expresso coffee then just a slight show of a smidgen extra, for his inner self.

Very upmarket cafe the he works at and he says I feel like just giving them an ordinary cup of instant at times :):):)

Well after lunch today DD and her four lads are all going sea fishing in the Solent They go every year and love it I am hoping for a sea bass fingers crossed for dinner tonight:)

Yesterday afternoon we went to Colwell Bay where they all splodged about in the mud and rock pools for crabs.

My son in law took the two little dogs for a walk and Lexi the Jack Russell trod on a wasp and got her paw stung. Simon managed to get the sting out but she was a very sorry for herself little dog.

We bathed it in vinegar and a few cut off pieces of the lamb joint helped in her recovery no end:)

We are hoping for some decent weather tomorrow as my late OH's cousin Ian is coming over with his wife for a visit and we are hoping for a BBQ. Forecast is good so fingers crossed

Really enjoying relaxing and not haveing to rush around anywhere for a change

Hope everyone is doing OK nanny windows I never ever climb on any sort of chair as I am not a weeble and don't bounce back upLeave it to others our bones don't men quite so well as you get older, glad you are OK though

    Take care everybody

Morning from a wet Gers' Tower. Not raining at the moment but everything is sodden.

Nannywidow - hope you feel less achey today.

I'm on the FON wifi again on my laptop though I can't get it on my tablet. Still, the Openreach engineer is coming this afternoon between 1.00 - 6.00p.m. Hope it's not at the late end!

I'm off to college this morning to try to get some work done, I've got to organise a meeting for my 'team' for next week but have no idea who is in my team. I've sent two emails asking this question but had no reply yet, but I know that everyone is snowed under for the beginning of the semester.

Last night I went to bed early and was sitting reading when someone knocked on my door. I went down and it was a cyclist asking me for some water. He was cycling round the coast of Scotland so he got his water. Back to bed, two more chapters and another chapping on my door... the builders son with the scrappy invoice for the gutter work. My early night didn't really pan out! Still, I slept all night long, had a wee break at 5.00'ish and then zonked out again.

My cleaner is coming this morning so I've tidied round!

Butterfly - hope your dad is fine.

I wish everyone a great Monday.
