Advice on house extension please

    as mentioned some of those fees seem high. My non council building control fees were approx 750+VAT on a 100k build. Structural engineer fees look v high indeed. Are these entities who the architect has been recommending for you or have you been shopping around.

    Any extension including a kitchen can result in costs that vary wildly. The number of units/appliances/worktops/plumbing etc etc not to mention quality of units will be v price sensititve. Loads of savings depending how basic you want to go.

    I mentioned in an earlier post obtaining consent for party wall works which does away with the need to appoint surveyors. I've just come across a pretty good article on how best to go about getting your neighbours to consent. It seems I can't post a web link to the site on here but if you Google 'Scoop.it party walls' you can get there that way.

    Lots of other helpful stuff about different aspects of party wall works on the same site if it's of interest.
