Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I'm not sure if it should be here or in the general discussion or the KLM thread?! Please move if it's not supposed to be here!
Anyway, yesterday my son was travelling from Stavanger in Norway to Newcastle. He should have landed at Newcastle at 8.45am.
The Stavanger to Amsterdam flight took off an hour late due to fog at Amsterdam. I was checking online for him and his connecting flight was showing a 90 minute delay so he thought he would still make it.
Just before he arrived at Amsterdam, they cancelled both his Newcastle flight and the next Newcastle flight. He stood in a long queue and after 90 minutes he finally spoke to a KLM rep. He was told that all the flights to Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley were now full.
They ended up putting him on an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin yesterday afternoon, then he had to wait a couple of hours in Dublin airport for a flight back to Newcastle last night. He landed here at 6.55pm without his suitcase.
The suitcase has since been located and it's in Newcastle now. They're going to deliver it to our house today.
They didn't give him any refreshments and he didn't have any euros. He's spent money on food and drink using his debit card which will have incurred fees.
Is he entitled to claim anything for this?

Here I go again on my own....

Yes it should be on the AirFrance/KLM thread
If weather caused all the cancellations and delays then no compensation is due. He should receive a refund of any expenses incurred as a result of the delay such as food accommodation transport etc. Download Vauban's super guide. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
