Avro Energy - no bills for 6 months

I made a first payment to Avro 23rd Feb this year.

They are taking £123 a month from me

Their web portal has no bills available for me to view

I don't think this is acceptable

Has anyone else had delays in seeing their bills on line?

Have you raised a written complaint against the supplier? You can then escalate this to the EO in 8 weeks time. Remember, if you want to invoke the Back Billing Code then you need to make an effort to get a bill out of the supplier - if you haven't done so already.

    Avro produce bills monthly.
They normally send an email each month to remind you to enter meter readings else they will produce estimates.
Have you been receiving these emails, entering readings and can you see any readings online?
I would give them a ring and tell them what the situation is.

Had the same problem with an Avro account I manage for someone. No statements were appearing despite me providing monthly readings. Phoned them up to ask why and the person I got was very helpful, couldn't explain what had happened but did immediately generate a statement, and they have been automatically generated monthly ever since.
So, worth a phone call (I was on hold for just over 20 minutes before getting a human), especially if you can call 0330 numbers at no cost. They seem to have dropped the 0800 number they used to have.

  • Thank you - I have sent an email complaining and indicating I will go to the Ombudsman unless they correct the situation.

I will also call them today.

I have just had a final bill out of another company - Extra Energy- which should have terminated in Feb 2015! I had to take them to the Ombudsman. While EE partially complied with the Ombudsman's remedies I had to get a second opinion found against them to stop them using unacceptable billing tricks followed by legal threats. They were sending unintelligible figures and estimated reading and then following that with debt collectors and IGNORING parts of the Ombudsman's instructions! DON'T USE EE Extra Energy, the risk of poor service and legal threats is appalling.

The next provider which took over in from EE in March 2016 was BG - and they still owe me £90 - which for some reason they have been slow in paying back! They send emails saying they are sorry for the delay in returning the money. Perhaps if they concentrated on making the payment and less on sending emails they wouldn't have a problem:)

I am not a willing participant in this moving to different energy suppliers. There are insufficient consumer safeguards

    Ditch & switch, mate!

I read on other threads that EBICO supply a no standing charge tariff, and they send bills at least every quarter :)
  • I complained to Avro's Customer Services - they said that British Gas had not supplied an initial reading when they released to account for Avro to take over. As a precaution I take photos of the gas and electricity meters with my cell phone, these photos are date stamped and I take the photos on the day that the switch occurs.

I don't understand why 'forgot' my termination meter reading and failed to pass it to Avro.

Having provided irrefutable evidence of the exact reading on the day of transfer - low and behold I get a cheue for close to £100 that BG had held on to for 6 months. The same day Avro get the meter reading sent through from BG.

Avro's intro letter says - you do not need to do anything. They will go and get the information they need and we do not have to worry our dear little heads about a thing.

Right at the beginning of this new push from the government to make us get better energy prices by opening up the market I switched from BG to EDF - never got my creditback. Then EDF to Extra Energy EDF bumped up the final bill to make the credit balance zero - had to kick up a fuss about that- Had to take Etxra Energy to the Ombudsman to get them to with draw £600 in excess of meter reading charges and release the contract to BG. Now Avro don't get the information from BG. This is a bunch of Corporate pigs at the trough

If it keeps you happy, so be it.

But all anyone will ensure is that the start readings used by the new supplier are the same as the final readings used by the old supplier

Something that can very easily be proven in case of dispute...no photos required.
