Parking fine from Euro Car Parks

  • Offer them £10 a month in a letter and see what they say
But why you would bother given it is ECP, who do not usually pursue single tickets.

  • Hi, I parked on a Toby Carvery carpark playing pokemon in February for 45 minutes.  All Toby Carverys was closed due to covid, Euro Carparks are now fining me £50 for not paying by phone for using the carpark.  I appealed to them but I never got a response until 2 months later with an additional letter/ fine of £85 stating I've gone past my discount allowance of 2 weeks, I never even got my unique POPLA number to appeal if my appeal got rejected by Euro Carparks.

I've complained about this to Euro Carparks & they said I'm no longer eligible for a discount & said I should pay £85, they also stated that they sent me the unique POPLA number with their rejection to my appeal which again I never received but they showed me that they did via an email after I sent a letter to them to complain about this matter.

My reference number doesn't work online for the Euro Carparks website or even the POPLA website now, can anyone advise me on what to do please.  I've got the number for the POPLA  & I'm planning to call them on the 1st of June to complain about Euro Carparks & the fact that a business was closed so the carpark rules shouldn't apply due to no customers being able to visit the Toby Carvery as they was closed due to the law of covid procedures.

Please can anyone help me on this matter as I feel it's completely unfair, thank you.

I'm not sure who you intend calling, but that's not a reason I would be putting forward to anyone. Where have you got the idea that because an outlet is closed, you can park there for free?

Please do forget that notion, otherwise you're likely to rack up many more private parking charges, parking operators are cracking down on any entry to a closed/after hours facility which results in a stay of little more than a few minutes. Perhaps - in your case - Toby Carvery didn't want any cars on their car park during lockdown?

You could try a complaint to Toby and see if they might help (they don't want to alienate potential customers), but I wouldn't go to them with any element of 'entitlement', or tell them you went on the car park to play games (whatever Pokey Man is! 🥴).
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Hi,  thank you for the advise.   I didn't know that the carpark charged when a business is closed, I do now so I won't be thinking that anymore.  Pokemon is a children's game I was playing online with my 10 year old daughter to cheer her up from being bullied, I've decided to pay the fine but hopefully I won't be in this position again.   Many thanks again, take care.

My advice, as usual, is for goodness sake DON'T seek out car parks if you want to stop the car.  This is what the street is for and you can't get a PCN by post from the Local Authority, as long as you are not in a London Red route or stop in a bus lane or on school zigzags.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
