So pleased with myself, we very nearly had a Chinese takeaway last night which would have cost a fair amount of money, but instead I decided we should go to the supermarket instead to get a treat and that saved us loads!
My mindset have definitely changed!
Did some more surveys last night, and plan to get some done today too!Total debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

So today i had to buy my niece's birthday present as her birthday in on wednesday, and she wanted a baby wow toy which on most websites was £60. I managed to get it for £50 as it was on sale in Smyths toys and I found a £5 off code.
Usually the old me would have stuck that on my credit card and worried about it later, but not this time - I had already budgeted for it in my savings account!
Found i was really low on tops to wear and at work we dress down everyday so it was important for me to find some, so I went to the charity shop today and bought some real bargainsAlso budgeted for!
So although I haven't had a NSD everything I bought was budgeted for and not added to my credit card.
Also I am working tomorrow and we get double paythe money made will be going to the M&S credit card.

Thank you fruitloop04!
I am finding that changing my mind to think that under no circumstances can I pay for something by credit card makes me think about whether I need it or not!
It's working for now, so will just carry on.Total debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

That is a good mindset as credit is not really money (just getting my head round this!). It is so good you are not going to pay for your wedding with credit, my friend took a £20k loan for the wedding a few years back and are still paying for it now. It was an amazing wedding but it was not worth all the debt they are still in now. They now have 2 kids and regretting it (not the day but the amount they spent on it)! As long as the wedding is what you and other OH want then it is a perfect day

I agree fruitloop04!
Ours is not going to be cheap - approx 15,000, and I know it can be done cheaper but hopefully it will only be the once and we booked it over 2 years before to give us the time to save up for it. I know a lot of people that have borrowed for their wedding and thats not so bad until the day is over and your still stuck paying for it.
I went well over budget on my dress I completely fell in love with a designer one, but again I will not borrow for it I have taken on a Sunday job to pay for that. My pay from there goes in a completely separate account that I won't even look at until I have to pay for
My dress
As long as I can still overpay existing debt aswell as save for that wedding then that is ok I think! Again the old me would have borrowed for the wedding and dealt with it later - thankfully I don't have that way of thinking anymore!Total debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

Have just caught up on your diary. Well done on wanting to pay up front for your wedding . Weddings are expensive no doubting that .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thank you!
Yeah I thought we were going to do it quite cheaply but when you start adding all the other bits on it suddenly becomes really expensive.
If I can make it to the day without having to have borrowed for any of it, I will be extremely happyTotal debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29
