They're under no obligation to tell you.

Thank you, that's all I wanted to know. The rest of the "advice" on here is largely superfluous and some is simply incorrect.

Suggest you brush up on your reading and comprehension skills.

The "no time limit" reference was to taking up the offer of a speed awareness course.

The Hotmail reference was to joining the pepipoo forum (they won't let you) regardless of whether using Hotmail is legal. :rotfl:

There isn't any written rule for a time limit,

Really? What about the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, section 1(c)(ii)?

This post is wrong in every respect. There certainly is a written rule. The NIP must be issued within 14 days.
Well if you are going to be picky, you are also wrong. The first NIP has to be served within 14 days.

The NIP must be issued within 14 days. I'm not "looking for a way out" as you put it, I'm making sure that the NIP was correctly issued as is my statutory right. .

How are you going to prove it wasn't? The only people who can confirm it was or not are the hire company who it will have initially been sent to who can confirm the date of receipt and they're not under any obligation whatsoever to help you and are most likely not to give a stuff. And you can only get the name of that hire company from your former employers who will have to do a bit of work to find out and they too are likely not to be overly motivated to help you.

Then there is the Data Protection Act to consider as well in regards to the phone call. You're not the named person on the original NIP and you don't know who is so you are unlikely to get any joy.

Long story short, you've no way of proving it wasn't. Accept the points, pay the fine, move on.

Does that stipulate 4 months limit on being offered a course?

No. Did your post stipulate that you were referring to a course rather than a NIP?

There are no "written rules" about courses, since they are entirely outside the criminal justice system. Rule or not, the police are not going to offer a course if it is likely that the "perp" could postpone/procrastinate beyond the 6-month limit for prosecution. All the reports I've read suggest that 4 months is about the limit.

As has been stated by RichardD1970 my warning about the Hotmail account was because the pepipoo site doesn't like them and your sign up will probably fail. However, since you seem to be so lnowledgeable about everything and so reluctant to listen to anybody trying to give assistance I'll assume you don't need further help.

Read that post again in its place in thread and read his quote from your earlier post the last sentence of which specifically refers to the speed awareness course. It's very clear to me that Dave Brown. was specifically talking about the awareness course. I don't know how anyone, be it you or the knowitall OP can infer that he was referring to anything other than the SAC.
There isn't any written rule for a time limit, but what I will say is phoning them with an indication you are looking for a way out may see it going straight to postal charge.

What possible reason is there for making sure the NIP was correctly issued other than "looking for a way out"?

Nothing wrong with checking the process has been correctly followed but......

The chances of the first NIP being late are low and the potential mither and cost of taking the matter to court with a not guilty plea should make the OP seriously think about this pragmatically.

If the OP knows they were driving and doesn't dispute the speeding aspect a COFP would seem the least painful option.
