He can walk but its not easy........he limps a bit more on one side.
He has hard 3 operations on both knees. He needs knee replacment per consultant but he wint get that fof a few years as he considered young at 51.0 -
Park near the back of the car park so he can open the door wide open? North Lanarkshire only really issue badges to children too young for DLA and elderly people too old for PIP. Otherwise it's expected that you apply for the appropriate benefit and proof of entitlement is the benefits letter.0

He wont get pip as the claim criteria suggests its more for people with very severe disabikities eg getting help with getting dressed, washing, that sort of thing.0

He has not been to pain clinic and we have never heard of that but he has been prescribed pain killers but only takes them on really bad days as they make him drowsy. On days he takes them he doesnt drive and takes taxis to work and back.0

I've seen a device that you clip into the door latch to help stabilise to get up0

Thanks, that will definately help him.0

from what you've said it sounds unlikely that he'd qualify for a blue badge, but no one here can say really. He needs to apply the council and probably have an assessment. Most councils don't take into account getting in/out of the car, because that can be overcome by parking in peripheral spaces0

Having already checked the OP local councils criteria for a blue badge it is "virtually unable to walk" I highly doubt they would qualify even after an assessment going by what the OP has said.from what you've said it sounds unlikely that he'd qualify for a blue badge, but no one here can say really.
