    I've been Money Tipped!
90 minutes is what they expect, I believe, if you're on the dole.

    But everybody's experience/route/circumstances are different.

Personally I'd advise you to NOT move half way between jobs, but to pick one location or the other so only one of you is driving. Work out where else you need to be/go and pick a house close to the appropriate job.

If you are both travelling then it makes life even harder as nobody wins.... and if one car's off the road when you both need one, you're stuffed.

Midway .... never works for any choices.

I think its more than that actually, it seems to be distance more than time as when I lived 9 miles from town with first bus 8am to town and 6pm back jobcentre expected me to walk the 9 miles to town for a early start job which would of taken over 2 hours, and wanted me to go for a factory job 14 miles from my house but to get there by public transport would be 27 miles so imagine a 14 mile walk to work and 14 miles back every day.

Little side story its just in reality whats doable varies between people and often people that say thats acceptable will be the ones going short distances to work in a car.

    what's your current commute?

swapping 80-90 for 2*50 its going the wring way.

we lived mid and had 35-60 each which was the limit for us driving, winters no fun. If someone else is driving(bus train...) then you can go longer because you can try to nap/work/read.

moving twice will cost, is the job going to be worth it to cover the costs.

work out an estimated hourly rate for all the extra time and costs.

it may look good on paper but £ph in the pocket will be much lower once you factor in everything.

Might be better to move once and get a lower paid job.

Also you might get your fuel paid but cars need more than just fuel to run, factor in that expense as well

90min commute would see me dropping a toaster in the bath after a week.

Say you did that for 240 days a year over 5 years, that's 1800 hours spent behind some !!!!!! in an insignia, or 75 days on the motorway.

Unless I was earning well into 6 figures I'd rather spend those 75 days doing something else!
