Try this free on-line course

.
You can also download the audio course onto an MP3 player.
It certainly helped me.0 -
i use mimulus (bach flower remedy - it is for fear of known things) also use an mp3 player so when light goes off i put music on and just look ahead until flight is over - good luckThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o
A winner listens, a loser just waits until it is their turn to talk:)0 -
I know what you are going through. I was exactly the same.
I am a lot better now. Think it is the fact of flying more often and also having a 2 year old to look after.
I read a good book a while back that recommended watching the cabin crew. The slightest bit of turbulence feels big but just watch the cabin crew getiing on with their jobs as though they are working in an office.
I have also tried as previously mentioned and tell the cabin crew that you are a nervous flyer and they do look after you well.
Most of all try and enjoy it !0 -
I used to be scared - until a mate told me to think of it as getting on a bus - get a seat near the aisle - the conductor(ess) will walk up and down and instead of you buying a ticket, will offer you a cup of tea. The bus will get you from a to b - and then you get off it again..... (it works for me!);)Bern :j0

My heart goes out to you as a person who suffers panic attacks too. Funny thing is we get more anxious about the possibility of having one than actually having one! Its a horrible vicious circle. If it happens, it happens, tell yourself that - you've had one before and you came through, it passed. Try not to hide it and just go with the flow, you can't stop your heart thumping its way out of your chest with an on/off switch so if it happens keep telling yourself, calmly, your heart will slow down very shortly, it will pass. It's unpleasant yes but easier to get through if you don't fight it. It is what it is and forget being embarrassed. Most people don't even notice because externally we look ok. Tell you partner what 'may' happen and that the best way he can help is to talk to you calmly about happy things as this will distract you. It will comfort you too. Don't forget either that despite this horrible panic, it hasn't stopped you getting on that lane so well done you, you're much braver than you think!0

hi i can sympathise because i'm also a nervous flyer and suffer panic attacks. what gets me through is the thought of what a lovely holiday we'll have and the fact that flying is statistically safer than crossing a road (which we do every day without thought). i get myself a trashy mag, some elizabeth arden 8 hour cream to moisturise and have a drink in the airport bar (depending what time you are off!). if i have a panic attack - so what? people will look but their strangers that you'll never see again. take a sleeping mask to cover your eyes with when its over and block them all out. it'll be tough but we all have things we find scary that we have to deal with. lifes too short to let fear prevent you from exploring the world!

The nerves are here now just looking at the clock, thinking this time tomorrow I'll be boarding the plane.
Last time I flew was 2 years ago, before that it was 20 years previous!
I was fine getting on the plane last time, until we took off.......then I had the Mother of all panic attacks, couldn't breathe properly and was sobbing like a big kid

I won't eat tomorrow at all before we board and I'll hardly drink ~ mainly because I'm scared of being sick and I think if I don't do either of those, I can't be sick because there will be nothing to bring up.
Would Kalms or something sort me out?
I'll be flying with OH so won't be alone, but I'm afraid of ending up a big mess like last time, my stomachs churning now as I type
I know what your going through, i`m flying next week and have never flown in my life.
The thing is my sister has treated me to a holiday in spain so i`d be a fool not to go would`nt I? At the moment i`m too excited to be nervous but by this time next week i`ll be just the same as you, i`ve even told my sister to `knock me out`with a well placed slap lol
Good luck for tomorrow, i`ll be thinking of you.:T0 -
