Flying tomorrow ~ I'm bricking it!

The nerves are here now just looking at the clock, thinking this time tomorrow I'll be boarding the plane.

Last time I flew was 2 years ago, before that it was 20 years previous!

I was fine getting on the plane last time, until we took off.......then I had the Mother of all panic attacks, couldn't breathe properly and was sobbing like a big kid :o:o

I won't eat tomorrow at all before we board and I'll hardly drink ~ mainly because I'm scared of being sick and I think if I don't do either of those, I can't be sick because there will be nothing to bring up.

Would Kalms or something sort me out?

I'll be flying with OH so won't be alone, but I'm afraid of ending up a big mess like last time, my stomachs churning now as I type :(

Don't focus on the flying, focus on where you are going!

If you don't fly very often I guess take-off is a different kind of experience. My colleagues often take the mick out of me becuase I can be asleep and snooring before take-off! Sometimes I'm still asleep when we land!

I guess what I'm trying to say is flying is no big deal, just relax.

Oh, and I say this as someone who flys at least twice a week.....!

I'll try to focus and not think about it, easier said than done though :o

I'm worried that I'll panic about having another panic attack and because I'm panicking, I will actually have one.....Arghhhh, I wish someone would knock me out like Mr. T! :rotfl:

Not a personal recommendation as I don't get nervous when flying but many swear by Bach's Rescue Remedy, read about it here, available at ASDA etc.

    Have a nice trip.

    I would agree with Lorian
I know {for you} it is hard and no matter what we say to you the nerves will still be there. if you can get an isle seat and also {if you can get any }"stem Ginger" will help with the queezy feeling. try as much as you can to relax {NOTHING IS GOING TO GO WRONG} if it is a holiday that you are off to think about all the things you are going to do, talk to the people you are going with as soon as you are onboard {about anything}if you have a book thak that and have a read.
I fly 4 to 6 times a year and i love it but can feel for people that have nerves over the thought of flying. Put to the back of your mind what happened in the past and enjoy the break you are going to have
Good Luck and I hope the weather is great as well

The first time I flew after years I was, like you, scared of having a panic attack. my dsis sent me a book and oen of the things it recomended was to put an elastic band over your hand and ping it when you get those spirally out of control panicky feelings - worked for me and i felt less embarassed about the occasional ping than i would have done having a full blown panic attack. also mention to the crew when you get on that you're nervous - my dad did this when i flew with him and the stewardess came and explained what all the noises were and stuff like that which made me much more relaxed. have a great trip :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Don't suppose it's any consolation but I read somewhere that we have more chance of winning the lottery than .... I wont say it - You'll be fine ;) I love the taking off and landing but I get so bored just sitting there for hours, I can't concentrate to do anything but gaze into space. My biggest fear is not being able to smoke

I take valium, the doc is quite happy to prescribe this for flying and may be worth thinking about in future (I would like to add that I actually dont even touch painkillers just the occasional lemsip so I'm not pushing an 'easy' route iyswim) My fear is having a panic attack, not flying. We fly long haul, 9 ~ 10 hour flights.

Kalms are quite good, as is bachs. Positive thinking (repeat a mantra in your head) forget grown up books, to hard to focus on, get a wheres wally book or something else thats visual to help your mind stay occupied.

    Have a lovely time.
