Large North West car boot sales?

Hi all.

I'm looking for a large car boot sale in the North West. I'm Manchester based but will go to Blackpool, Southport, Rhyl etc or wherever I'm recommended to go for a large car boot. So where would people recommend?

Thanks

surely car boots are due for winding up soon as far as I know its a summer thing - Ive done a few and at this time of year no one goes as theres nothing worse than getting up early sitting in damp often foggy conditions waiting to make a few quid. I might be wrong but a lot of the smaller /medium sized ones close up for winter very soon.

  • Try Chelford (near Knutsford). Supposedly 2nd biggest in the UK (on a sunny day it can take 3 hours to get round!). Usually goes on into November.

I would recommend Chelford - it has been really good the last few weeks

We go every Sunday and it is on until Christmas

As a seller it is actually better around this time as loads of buyers go but not as many sellers. In the summer you can be overwhelmed as it is so huge.

I have had many fantastic bargains from there and will be going this Sunday

It is the best car boot sale in the North West IMO and we go to loads as we are addicts! I get all the kids clothes and all our books, toys, videos etc there in fact I can't buy anything from shops any more as I'm always thinking - I could get that at the car boot for £1

    Hi Babydaisy,
Just filled the shed with lots of stuff we want to sell at a car boot and were looking for a good one also. Have you sold at this one before? What time do you have to get there to set up? What time does it open? can't you tell i'm new to this!

Have you tried Clitheroe at the Cattle Market. It's on every Sunday
  • Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go to the Chelford one. Apparently its off the A537 to Macclesfield. It starts at 8.00 am and is £8 entry. The postcode is WA16 8SU. Anyway I'm off to load up!

No I haven't tried there but I'll bear it in my mind although Chelford sounds huge. According to the contact when I asked him how many stalls he said hundreds!

How did you get on Viv?

We sold there today for the first time - it was a beautiful sunny day wasn't it?

Don't like the farmer who runs it - thought he was very rude and we were very squashed in - was next to a friend though so not too bad

We did brilliantly - cleared nearly everything and made loads of money. It was wonderful to see everything flying off the stall.

I've now got a bag full of money so I can go back next week and start stocking up again!

Am a complete and utter car boot addict!

    Hi BabyDaisy,
Didn't actually go, was just wanting info regarding set up and opening times really. I know it sounds daft but I'm a little apprehensive about doing it as wouldn't know how much as ask for anything. Wouldn't want to give things away but on the other hand wouldn't want to be bringing it all home either.
We have loads of clothes, books, videos, foot spa and beauty set(face steamer, nail set, heat massager) to name but a few things.
    What do you reckon?
