Maternity Allowance

Can anyone tell me how long it's currently taking to process maternity allowance claims? I'm self-employed and applied a few weeks ago with the 6th of Aug being my date to stop working. However, I'm now in a position where I don't know if I'll get maternity allowance for sure as I haven't heard back from them and I'm not earning any money. This will leave me with a period of no income if there's a problem with my claim.

Mine was approx 4 weeks, applied beginning of June for July start. It wasn't actually processed in time for the date I wanted to start (took another 2 weeks on top of the other 4 weeks to sort out the amount) but it was backdated when I spoke to them.0
