"Very" not closing account. Paid off

I'm trying to clear all my debts using the snowball method and I recently cleared "Very", the catalogue. I've written to them twice (by post) following their T&C's and quoting their T&C about closing accounts and I'm getting zero from them, no response, no account closure.
Does anyone know if this £1300 available credit sitting there will effect my credit score? I've had no problems with other companies closing my paid off accounts as I go but for some reason Very just seem to ignore my requests and keep sending me circulars with Get 50% off when you spend over £100, get cashback when you spend over X amount. It's annoying me as I'm trying to be responsible, I could do without the temptation tbh but I'm more concerned that the available unused credit could damage my score.

You have no credit score - it's just a made up number made by the agencies which is a marketing tool. You need to focus on your credit history - not the pointless score.
Having the account remaining open all it will mean is if you were to apply for say a credit card in future, lenders will look at the available credit and take it into consideration along with your other limits/debts and will reduce their lending limit to you accordingly. if you don't trust yourself not to spend then yes get it closed ASAP.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Sorry I meant history, not score. I was just typing quickly in frustration.
That's my problem, I can't get them to close it and yes I do want it closed. I'm going to be re-mortgaging in the next few months when everything is finally paid off and I wanted to know if that available credit would go against me. I'm guessing yes. It's just frustrating as hell, I can't understand why they just can't close the account after 2 letters, and multiple emails requesting them to do so.0 -
Have you tried emailing them? I was able to close my Very account in 2012 by emailing customer services and asking them to close it, giving my reason as "I no longer required it". They emailed a response and closed it pretty quickly. I hate ringing companies so tend to email instead. Worked for me so maybe worth a try?
Edited to say- Sorry, read too quickly and have just seen the part were you state that you have already emailed them. Apologies!!! Perhaps their customer service department has gone to pot in the last five years. I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you.:(I might be broke but happy but I'd happily not be broke!0 -
I closed mine by using their online chat function, it did take ages for it to actually be closed though (I have "up to 28 days" in my mind) and longer still for it to be reported to the CRA but they did do it. I still kept getting their various offers while it was in the process of being closed too.0
