Work advising me to ask PIP to be re-looked at

Yep.. this is why I prompted them down the evidence route... because otherwise they're effectively just disagreeing with a decision long since made and never challenged. The OP has not mentioned any change in their health, so there are ,surely, no grounds for an increase in payment.
Rather, it is the employers who have failed to provide an adjustment that they previously made and so expect the taxpayers to fund their omission by providing a car, when the OP was managing ok with the old car.
Op... we're not well placed to risk assess this for you... however it does sound like it might be worth waiting for re-assessment to try to make a case that either your disabilities have increased or to reassert what they are that should lead to HRM. Normally PIP is looked at from the 12 months prior to end of award so you may indeed be imminently due review."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

It was being an automatic that was the adjustment. Cruise control just happened to be there.
As far as staying with the operational, that is not the way fleet leasing works. Vehicles need to be changed after so many years
Would there be need to be a new assessment before cruise control was also considered as an adjustment and would it be considered reasonable considering the cost of either adapting a vehicle or having to lease a further vehicle and taking a hit on the other one. ATM the employer has provided a vehicle that the adjustments asked for.0 -

They said that the company that the car is leased from can't get one (within my grade) that has both. They thought that they were being helpful changing it to the automatic and I think they didn't really understand that it's actually done more harm than good. This new car is only at the beginning of its 4 year term so the only options are;
a) keep it and end up with further damage to my body or b) give it back before it's term date and source my own.
It was really only the PIP side of things I was unsure about, I can't do anything about the company car. I'm thinking my best option is to buy something within my means and hope that when I get reassessed for PIP (I've decided that I'm defo going to wait until it's due) that I qualify for the higher rate and then can get something that fully meets my needs.0 -
Depending what your job is the Motability insurance may not agree to cover the business use you'd need anyway.0

I hadn't even considered that, I just assumed I would arrange my own insurance.
I just have to travel to multiple sites in the area I cover. I would def need to be insured for business purposes though.
This is getting more and more stressful! I just want to be able to do my job. Well actually, I'd like a new body but I'll settle for just having a decent quality of life!0 -
with a Motability vehicle you have no choice who the insurer is, RSA motability are the only insurer that are allowed and the policy is part of the contract. As standard you're not covered for business use, but if you ask for it, by letter, they do usually add it provided you explain why you need it. I couldn't get the cover I needed for a job with very sporadic travel to several different sites and meetings though.
One of the main reasons I gave back my motability car, having had one for 15 years, was the way RSA Motability dealt with me and their complete lack of grasping that not everyone fits into their boxes of independent vs has a team of social services carers. (I took a loan out wholly covered by PIP payments and bought a van instead)
There will be a solution to your problem but your boss shouldn't be telling you to get reassessed for PIP and he shouldn't be expecting a Motability vehicle to make up for the mess up of ordering the wrong car.0 -

TBH cruise control shouldn't be thought of as an adjustment as what you actually need is a hand throttle. This is now into the realms of an adapted vehicle so not falling under the employer's remit as a reasonable adjustment0 -
Is it possible to add cruise control to your current car? In some cars all the hardware is there and it just requires the dealer to download software to the car to activate the feature.
On my car it required a £200 software download and a different indicator stalk to add cruise control.0 -
This was my first reaction too. This is not what cruise control is designed for and wondering whether if you are at the stage of needing it to overcome using paddles, that this could cause you problem if you made a claim (as there will be a record of the reason for wanting it).TBH cruise control shouldn't be thought of as an adjustment as what you actually need is a hand throttle0 -

Sorry can't figure this quote malarkey out on my phone!
Yeah, it's not being classed as the adjustment, the automatic was. I'd had the cruise control in the previous one and had been relying on it and they had agreed I could have it in the new one.
I know I'm not technically using it as it's supposed to be used but I don't know even know where to start with proper adaptations and if I can't get cruise control retrofitted to a company car (paying myself) then I definitely need my own car for anything out of the ordinary.
I have found somewhere that I'm on the waiting list for a disabled driving assessment and I think they will tell me what would be best. Hopefully they will direct me to where I can get the work done.0
