Getting ready to renegotiate and my Sky Broke!

Saying you need to cancel would only work if near the end of a minimum term or on a rolling contract, as they would know that the leaving early fees would be more than the engineer visit.
I think next time there is an HD+ box on local Ebay ( ie no postage to pay) I may buy one in as a spare, as I don't intend paying all the extra for Q, whose extras we don't need . (Will leave anyway, at the end of the year, only returning for a very good offer.)0 -

And this was the OPs situation, which is why the advice was to say they will cancel.
Although the only time Sky seem to really insist on a new minimum term is when you take a new box, and in that case it would most likely still be under their warranty anyway. A normal retention deal, while keeping the same equipment, should be haggled to only include a 30 day rolling contract. This seems even truer currently, when Sky are giving out deals without even asking for them.0
