Selling our House

I know this area very well indeed having sold my house in Oastview, Rainham last year.

The neighbour's garage has always looked tatty but it pales into insignificance when compared to the fact that the neighbour has covered all of their external walls in glossy ceramic tiles

I kid you not - the OP can back me up on this :rotfl:
I didn't believe it until I saw it on Street view.
  • On streetview, is the woman on the corner looking for "business" only joking

Although the neighbour's house looks totally weird, it doesn't affect the OP's house - which is very nice :)

Plus the fact that it's on the corner of Longley Road and Station Road so not right next door - luckily ;)

    You'd be surprised.
We had a woman view our house who loved it but was put off because our neighbours garden was overgrown - they were into conservation so left it like that for the wildlife. She said she was wary what sort of people they'd be because they didn't look after it!

I think the tiled house isn't on top of the OPs house so that shouldn't be a problem, but the garage next to the house IS an eyesore I'm afraid.
 Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.
  • The tiles in 2009 were right up the side wall. Later on did they fall off or skimmed over? Either way he should remove or skim over the rest.

I agree with others regarding the TV in front of the window. It blocks out a lot of the light. There would be no need for the lights on in the living room during the day thus saving electricity costs if the TV is moved.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)

True. It would also make great extension space.

However, I'm getting a distinct 'beds in sheds' feeling about that neighbour's abnormallly large outbuilding......

Sorry, but this is the way viewers' minds may work too.

Someone tell me I'm wrong. :o

The reasons why I wouldn't view the house.

1 There is no off street parking that would allow me to unpack my shopping etc next to the front door.

2 I don't like the view of the car park across the road.

    3 I don't like the approach.

4 A garage at the bottom of the garden is not convenient so if I could find a house with the garage on the side I would prefer that.

5 The garden has overpowering wooden decking for the size of it.

That is just my taste other people will have different taste.

Thank you all for the amazing feedback :j

We will try to do as much as we can, starting off with the easily implemented things such as a rug, move the TV to the side perhaps, trim the hedges, photos, worktop edge etc

Yes I can confirm the neighbour tiled the outside of his house in tiles, but having said that the guy is pretty elderly and a really nice chap.

So far we had 2 viewings and the feedback was they loved the house and on their list, lets see how it goes!

Regarding the layout of the garage to the rear, it is actually closer to the kitchen, that is easier to unload. However in reality I never use the car to go shopping as the Tesco and Wilko are just 2 minutes walk out the front door :D

Thanks a lot for the feedback and tips, sorry not replying to each, but me and the wife went through all of it and are very very grateful for all the comments!

Blimey - usually people get defensive and heads get bitten off lol :rotfl: Thanks for asking, listening, absorbing, taking note and actioning. It's refreshing!

Hope it all goes smoothly for you!

*goes off to nose the tiled house...*
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*

So, it sounds as if I am wrong.

The large workshop is just that, and the guy has DIY aspirations which maybe exceed his abilities.

I've experience of weird, messy and incompetent neighbours too. It certainly doesn't preclude very cordial relations, although it can be incredibly frustrating when one's trying to sell the family home! :rotfl:
