Flight cancellations - Emirates

My flight on 15 July was from Bali to Dubai and then connecting on Emirates to Newcastle Upon Tyne. The first flight was cancelled and obviously I missed the connection. My delay was 48 hours before I arrived home. Emirates Customer Service say they will not compensate. What are my rights? Thanks

No rights under EU regulations as your flight was on a non-EU carrier that departed from outside the EU.

check your travel insurance policy to see what it covers for delays - maybe £20 for each 12 hours or similar
