I live in Manchester city centre and also work in the centre. I also keep a car in the city centre too. I need it as I need to collect stock and run errands as part of my job.

Parking is £1000 a year for use of 15 of their city centre car parks, two of which are within a stone's throw of my flat. Driving around Manchester as with any city centre is fine once you're used to the roads as with any city. The trams are good as are the free shuttle buses which run three different routes. When I don't need to drive and when on nights out, I use the free buses.

As others have said, if you can't see the signs that warn you that certain roads are restricted lanes, you need to pay more attention.
