Transfer money to US whilst in US

Hi all,
we're holidaying with friends in the States who are from the States. They booked a bunch of hotels etc and we we need to reimburse them. I can see lots of info on how to transfer money to the US from U.K. But is there a better way to do it while we're still here? Can I just go into their bank with my debit card? Or best to wait and transfer from U.K. when home? Thanks.

I tried this when away and couldn't just go into bank to transfer.
A workaround was to withdraw the maximum from ATM over set number of days.
This obviously didn't stop you spending on your card.0 -
https://transferwise.com if you don't have a fee free debit card and access to a no fee charging ATM.
Transferwise is your best bet overall.0
