Looks as though its definitely going to be the bamix.I will see how much cash I have left over after my holiday and put that towards getting one I would rather pay a bit more to get a decent one that will last Thank you everyone for your comments I'm glad I didn't go with the magic bullitt0

It is worth keeping an eye on Ideal World if you decide on a Bamix, they regularly have them as special offer bundles with extra accesories, and cheaper than the other retailers.
My mum has had a Bamix since the early 1970's, cooked for 6 so it had plenty of use, it still works only one of the interchangeable blades is stuck on and cannot be changed. 4 or 5 years ago she said to me in conversation that she might buy herself a hand mixer because of this, so we "the clan" joined together and bought her a new one (I got it from IW), as far as I know it has never been out of the box, and she is not able to cook for herself at all now.:(
Mmmmm, if she has not given it away already, I might see if I can buy it off her.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Out of interest is Ideal World a good place to buy one, or would perhaps Lakeland be better I am just thinking abut any possible returns policy in case of a break down or malfunction I have a Lakelands at Bluewater also a JL about 20 miles from where I live. I am normally a bit wary of buying from the internet0

I bought mine from Lakeland due to that reason, any considered purchase needs to come with good customer service for me, Lakeland and JL are always fabNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
At the time that I got Ma's there was not a Lakeland around, and my siblings and I, knowing how good Bamix are, were happy to buy from I.W.
Being a fair chunk older and more cautious I think that I would keep stalking Lakeland and JL's websites to try and catch one of their sale offers/promotions, no guarantee that either will offer a reduction in the time frame you might need, or even at all, some brands never seem to be reduced:(
Not sure if quarantees are met by the retailer or the manufacturer, maybe some one on here will know:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I got one as a wedding gift and it was great when I was weaning my babies but really it's rubbish for much else.DEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
I just noticed on the Lakeland site that Bamix offer a 10 year guarantee. JL don't seem to have any listed ATM.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

I've had my Bamix since the late 70s and it's still going strong. I had to buy the grinder attachment as an extra but didn't buy that until about 5 or so years ago when I started grinding my own spices for curries etc.
Don't use it as much as I should really but wouldn't be without it.
