    Hiya.

Normally when I've won prizes they've just turned up in the post / by courier. Occasionally I receive a letter or an email beforehand to tell me that I've won. I've only ever had one phone call to let me know that I've won a prize (it was for a bottle of champagne). I normally don't put my phone number down on entries unless I have to. I always give my mobile number and I've only had the very occasional marketing call.

    Hope this helps.

Good luck with the competitions! :D

I only tend to enter each competition once, apart from some of the ones listed in the regular comps section. It takes up enough of my time just entering most of the comps once let alone more than once!

I was just wondering what you do with prizes that you know you are not going to use. I try to enter only comps for prizes that I want to let others have a chance to win things they really would like, but I recently won £1000 worth of vouchers for The Pier and dutifully went out to spend them. I spent £800 on new furniture but couldn't find anything else I wanted so now I have £200 of vouchers that I'm unlikely to use. Does anyone ever swop prizes or anything like that?

Hi, I'm new as of just a few weeks ago, and won two comps, both for gigs. They phoned me for the second one (on the day!!), and luckily I was able to go. I'm actually on Channel 4 this Fri eve...

The former sent an email and I had to chase the tickets by phone, as there was only a day to go. I'm still waiting for the case of wine, that came with this prize, however.

Fingers crossed - it IS Blue Nun, after all. Class!!

  • Hi,
I always give out my mobile number. It doesn't bother me because i know if i get spam calls they'll only be to me and i'll just be able to hang up/say not interested to them. Saying that, i've never yet had a spam phone call and i've had one phone call to tell me that i won some tickets.
I think most of the sites that are posted on this site are pretty decent in that you can opt out of marketing calls/emails and the sites are mostly genuine so they're not really into spamming you.
Just be wary like Gilla said about giving it out on sites like MyOffers and Get Me A Ticket, because then you will get phone calls!!

    xx
  • I had a phone call to say I had won the bag and another the second time I had not originally won the comp but they were unable to contact the original winner so selected a second.

I have only had one spam call and they were easily put off when I told them I was not interested, I wouldn't worry about putting in your number on reputable sites.

I am not usually worried about not hearing anything, it's just I have been in contact with them several times during this competition and have been passed around a lot and people seem to be avoiding responding to any straightforward queries. They apparently closed the competition three weeks ago now but there is nothing on the web page and game to say that, so lots more people are joining and playing for no reason - that is a bit dubious to my mind.

I by no means consider winning prizes a 'right', and I'm not sure why I seem to have offended you with my post - I was just asking for some advice if I don't hear anything. I spent weeks emailing friends and asking them to join - I must have put in about 25 hours to get to the top of the leaderboard, so of course if I then don't win the prize I was aiming for (and thought I had got) I would want to check out whether they had acted legally or not.
