Classless blended cabin for long haul flights

Interesting concept https://skift.com/2016/03/22/this-new-blended-cabin-could-introduce-the-worlds-first-lay-flat-premium-economy-seat/#1

I fancy a flat bed premium economy seat.

Not sure if business class passengers would want to fly in a classless cabin though.

I think they would seriously have to down price business class for that concept to work, it's hardly worth paying the BC premium if you have to traipse through economy if you want to leave your seat. Presumably they would have to do away with the BC bar area too.

It would be a brave airline who first introduced the blended cabin and tried to charge the same price as now for BC.

No I wouldn't! It's not just the seat that makes it a different class.

I'd like an economy or premium economy pod - I'd like to be able to sit with, possibly facing, Marley and our autistic son in a contained environment. It'd make it more enjoyable for us and a heck of a lot more enjoyable for littl'un if we could interact with him but know that he's in a restricted area (and probably for everybody else on the flight as a result).

It's an effort to fit as many seats in as possible, filling every bit of space. Looks claustrophobic to me, it's something I would avoid in any class.

What sort of other things on the aircraft do you like that make business class a different class?

Smaller and more private cabin, less noise on overnight flights due to less passengers, less passengers per toilet, higher FA to passenger ratio. That's off the top of my head. Granted, perhaps there's a way you could integrate the latter two features with a classless cabin.
  • I would pay extra not to have to sit with Business Class passengers.

You can, pay more for first class and you don't have to deal with the business class riff-raff :D

If you are in a First class cabin it is usually very quiet. Also no chance of escaping crying babies. Less people walking past you when you are trying to sleep. Hiwever it depends on the price. It would need to be a fair bit cheaper.

They should take a leaf out of booking.com's book. Just sell the exact same seat as economy and business. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5689820
