Its not right that he was asked to be a stand in, all the employer has to do is contact 1 of the firms who provide the staff.

I hope he isn't affected by what happened in the long term, I mean mentally, must have been a shock it happened.

I am angry, my partner is hesitant in doing anything but I think a company who are so inconsiderate and complete a holes to not even check on his wellbeing or put safety aspects in place, then they deserve everything they get.

I'm not suggesting he now goes off incapacitated, but........

I'd also ensure this becomes RIDDOR reportable.

PTSD is a tricky one ; the symptoms sometimes only show months or years after the event. If the company has any mental health resources, I'd suggest taking them. Imagine if your partner's manager gives him a friendly pat on the back, and he unleashes the pent-up rage ; could be very awkward all round.

  • Id be interested to know what company this is.

To the OP ive got to say it doesn't sound like your partner is valued at all..very unusual to be asked to do security (esp if its retail) as its a mine field with whats allowed and whats not, might be worth a good read up and understanding of s.c.o.n.e
