Currys not refunding in full

On the 13th July I ordered a fridge freezer from Currys for £1,288.99 including delivery and extended warranty. They promised next day delivery (on the 14th July but when the order was acknowledged the earliest that they could do was the 21st July.
We had already been without a working fridge freezer for a week so wanted it quickly and so I cancelled the order as they couldn't delivery any sooner.
Currys have only refunded me £1279.29 a difference of £9.79 on the credit card.
It is only £9.70 but it is my £9.70 so I called them over 2 weeks ago and they said it was because the couldn't refund a delivery discount given to me. That's ridiculous because they didn't delivery anything and I called them to cancel the order on the same day.
I still haven't received my refund and as it costs to call them and a lot of time on the phone, what is the best course of action to get my money back?

You can find national rate numbers (free on most mobile call packages), instead of premium rate 0844 numbers here

Since it was paid for by credit card, try contacting your credit card company and ask them for a refund. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I don't understand where the £9.79 comes from. Was it £9.79 for delivery, which they aren't refunding ; or delivery has become £9.79 cheaper, and they are refunding only the discounted delivery price ?they said it was because they couldn't refund a delivery discount given to me.0 -
Are you sure this isn't something to do with your extended warranty?
Btw these are rarely good value .
I know they don't like cancelling them as they get commission0 -

I called them earlier on the day i ordered it and delivery was £29.99. When I phoned up later it was £39.99 so they reduced it by £10. This has changed in to the £9.79 and they say as this was a discount it can't be refunded!?0 -
Have you double checked exactly how much you were originally charged? It sounds like either you weren't originally charged as much as you thought you were (due to a delivery discount) or you were charged the full amount but during your phone call they have already refunded part of it leaving a lower balance to be refunded now.0

It is on my credit card statement.

OP did you order anything else?
Otherwise, I can't see how "we're not refunding the discount" makes any sense. A discount isn't something you're charged - its something you're not charged. Therefore its impossible to refund a discount.
However, we need to establish a few things first. You said next day delivery....how much was next day and how much was standard delivery?
What do their T&C's say about when a contract is formed? Was a contract formed? If so, are they in breach of that contract (by not providing next day delivery perhaps)? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Standard delivery was free. Nothing else ordered.
Next day delivery was £29.99 but increased throughout the day as slots were filled. So ended up at £39.99. I said this wasn't fair as I couldn't order it on line and they reduced the price by the £10.
It transpired that they had no intention of delivering it next day despite taking the money and would deliver it 7 days later.
They refunded the money but made a mistake re the reduction given and took it off the refund (mad I know) and didn't get the sums right. The man on the phone acknowledged this and said it would be sorted but it hasn't.0
