Cash withdrawal Europe

We are going to Majorca this week. I have a Nationwide flex plus account with free cash withdrawals. Anyone know if I am more likely to get a better rate taking out the cash when we get there or buying euros over here?

Nationwide load the exchange rate by 2%, which is a better rate then you'll get exchanging cash.

Not on the FlexPlus they don't. It's no loading for ATM withdrawals. But think they charge for spending.

No brainer. Take cash out there with your flex plus, get the VISA rate https://www.visaeurope.com/making-payments/exchange-rates.

Compare that with high street rates for selling euros.

Note: make certain you DO NOT accept any conversion rate the ATM offers you. Always take the "without conversion" option. Otherwise you'll get whatever rip-off ratethe ATM decides to offer not the proper VISA rate.

According to MSE's tool on the Travel Cards page they do, perhaps it's out of date.

Edit: you're correct, it's 2% on purchases but withdrawals are free.

I was not sure if I got Nationwide rate rather than Visa. Nationwide rate is comparable with high street which is why I came to you guys. Thanks x

There's no 'Nationwide rate' for cash withdrawals with your card, there's only the straight VISA rate, or the rate the ATM might like to give you if you're not careful to select 'Without Conversion'.

The flexplus debit card offers cash withdrawals loading free abroad, whilst the select credit card offers purchases loading free,so we carry one card for each.
