Contract, standing, signs, timing, planning/advertising permissions, grace periods. Read the stickies.

    Why? On what grounds?

    Why not? What's your advice?

Consider whether the 160 mile round trip for the OP to check and record signage etc. is worth it in terms of time, effort and cost to him in this instance.

    @ harz99

As the OP is confused to the location, the basis of any claim and who was driving, there is insufficient information to come to any conclusion.

If you are local to the area, perhaps you can throw some light on which car park it might be. If you are not local, then you are in the same position as the rest of us which is to wait to the OP to come up with some facts.

I used to be local from 1980 to 2002, and as I have friends in the area whom I visit periodically am familiar with the station area from passing through in present times.

Unfortunately these visits don't take me along Thorpe Road which is the opposite side of the railway line to the main station entry/exit which I use, so I can't shed any light on exactly where the car park may be etc. especially as it looks as though some redevelopment has taken place.

Again will the 160 mile round trip be worth it to the OP? Only he knows that.

Why would he need to make that journey? There are other methods of gaining copies of contemporaneous signage. We've seen a number of cases where a local MSE member has taken photos on behalf of a remotely based OP. If there's a local Facebook group or Twitter feed, a polite request there is likely to be met with a positive response. ParkingEye isn't the most popular of organisations in any area of the country. There'd be plenty happy to twist the knife!

And photos of signage isn't the start, middle or finish of issues on which the OP could defend a case against him.

Are you suggesting on a money saving forum that he should supinely pay up? With no fight? Send money to a private company on the back of a letter in the post? On exactly what basis is your advice given to meekly pay £100?

Nope, not giving advice at all, merely my views. I'll leave the advice to people like yourself who spend far more time on this one forum than I have to spare.

My interest stemmed from Peterborough Station being mentioned, and this is an open forum so I commented as I'm allowed to do, unless the rules have changed just because Parking Eye are involved.

On PPP he has identified the location and you can "drive" around the car park using Google Street View. However having seen the location and the paperwork, I have a feeling @harz99 may be correct in his/her assessment.

Can PE produce a landowner authority for managing the car park? There's been a number of recent cases where PE have failed to produce one to POPLA - and lost.

If the OP is prepared for a gamble then he might want to consider an appeal to POPLA? Just an option.
