  • Tiny treat I meant!
  • Thanks HD, I just sometimes need to look properly at where I am and what our situation is. This last two weeks I have bought more clothes for myself than the last year, so I'm having those as my treat :T
We are going on a fantastic holiday in a couple of days-to a place we both love in a very nice, quite quirky and v funky apartment...we have looked at different ways of doing this same holiday quite a few times and each time we come back to the fact that the apartment is part of why we enjoy ourselves so much, the setting, the convenience of the location and the way it is furnished. So, we make compromises, we stay in a lovely apartment but we book flights as soon as they come through and at (hopefully) cheap prices, we also always breakfast in the apartment, and we get snacks while we are out and about.... Think M&S bakery counter and fresh grocery dept-type lunch rather than an eat in meal..
Last night I went through Trip Advisor looking at restaurants in the 'cheap eats' section and I've identified at least 3 or 4 must visit places, we already have 3 regulars... We are there for 5 days so we'll see how that goes... Getting v excited now....
  • Ahhh. .. all sounds lovely... Have a fab time! x :)))))
  • Well, I applied to a couple of research things today and got accepted for one for tomorrow (Tues).. I can only manage it cos husband can drive me, it's about 30 miles, so abit of a trip out for us... Husband suggested we use the fee for breakfast at the airport the next day, and I think it's a good idea-I get really stressed with the waiting around so it will be good to not be also stressing over the price of a coffee and croissant! It's a one to one research thing that takes 30 minutes and pays £30..so a nice way to spend a morning!
Got the chicken feed and bedding - £18+, they're cleaned out, neighbours been briefed on chicken and cat duty.. So all sorted for weds....
Morrs payment still not even pending from Saturday morning... Hmmm
    Bedtime.... X

Up early to make sure we set off in plenty of time for survey thing, lots of roadworks near us will affect travel time but at least it's still school hols!
The plan is, we're coming back, heading for a couple of hours sleep cos we'll be up to drive to the airport at 3am...
Tonight we're at the pub for the quiz so when we get back no doubt we'll be so excited after an evening of general knowledge and random music... And probably pizza...im guessing we'll struggle to sleep....
Going to still try and update here while away but will depend how busy we are.... Not very I'm hoping!!

First day of holiday nearly done..very nearly spent all today's allowance, but have bought something daughter asked if I could pick up, a ball of unusual yarn I fancied and a couple of wooden animals for gson sorry Xmas for 2€
Had transfers from airport to pay for but we the bus so it's as cheap as it gets...
Got a few groceries in, fridge had a fair few bits in left by previous occupants, including a couple of beers that have gone down v nicely.. Bathroom is well stocked too so didn't need to bring toiletries but I'm always wary of getting here with nothing in the cupboard!
Had a sleep when we got here, then late lunch, huge jacket potatoes-guaranteed to be at least 1lb, mine with smoked salmon salad, dressing made from quark, topped with seeds and nuts... Husband had his with green Thai curry topped with cheese, with a shared bottle of water it was €25, then went to an amazing coffee place.. Had a drink, and a warm chocolate chip cookie and Husband had a piece of beetroot and macadamia cake.. Tea wasn't huge tonight after all that, fresh bread, aged cheese, apple and crisps... Ohh and beer..
A good day.... And 15,000+ steps taken.... X

Second day.. Love this place, just walked up to supermarket, got a tub of 7 nectarines and a tub of blueberries for €3...4 croissants and a tub of strawberries and it came to €5.40...Husband had some good coffee on when I got back so that's a fantastic breakfast and fruit for tomorrow too... As I said before it's quite expensive staying in an apartment, we could do a budget hotel but we wouldn't have a fridge and coffee machine etc... Trying to justify it maybe but we have a daily budget and the trip has been planned out.....
That's until today when I am going to a designer yarn shop unsupervised..... While Husband goes to Rembrandts house...
Good job we only brought handluggage, that will minimise what I bring back lol

Well, we're back and we had a great time. Weather was lovely and we went to lots of different places. We didn't quite spend up, so we'll put the few euros left into the pot for next time-they'll go towards transport costs for next time.
Ive just done my usual Sunday rounding downs-everything gets delayed because of the bank holiday. I paid the minimum on my cc just over a week ago (£9.90) and I've also paid an extra. £3.95-I'm aiming to get as close as possible to doubling my payments each month. I've also rounded down the pennies into my savings account, think I've got about £4.40 in there now-that's got to get to about £12 then it will be a Xmas present.
Speaking of presents while we were away we also got a couple of bottles of Dutch Gin as presents for friends and also a couple of stocking fillers for my grandson for a couple of euros...
Just really need to keep the momentum going now...

Had a couple of quite spendy days since we got back, seems more that way because everything we spend has to come out of my account until Husband gets paid tomorrow, then some will go back from him, sometimes we play musical chairs like this the last few days before payday and are careful I don't go OD...
Today's going to have to be a NSD, I'll have a walk to library and see what I can exchange for.. I have about 9 books on my reservation list with them being a wide range of 1-34 other people before me!
Lots of good stuff in the freezer. Going to get a couple of curries out and make us a good selection with some bhajis and naans that can be split and the rest frozen for next time.
Made a batch of carrot and coriander soup from an old bag of carrots that were in fridge pre-holiday, slightly different recipe and went down a treat so I'll be making more with the 23p bags of ys carrots I got. Some of this will be frozen too.
Right, need a coffee... Back later to report in!

Aiming for a NSD today. At voluntary job this afternoon and Husband is at doctors having a retinopathy so that's us both occupied this afternoon
I've got a tub of soup left over for my lunch and will get a bag of snacks to take too, will be an even longer day than normal as I'll go with husband to docs, then on his way back I'll head into 'work' for the afternoon.
Got some chilli our ready for tea, going to chop up some wedges before I go out then just them to cook when I get back tonight..
Need to get Husband to put some cash in my account from when we had to use it in the two days between getting back from holiday and his payday today... Strictly speaking even if he didn't I'd manage but I'd like to be able to make some extra payments on Sunday into savings and onto credit card and they'd be pretty meagre as things stand..
My soup maker broke yesterday- bought it on new years eve and in March it started fusing the house so we returned it.. Yesterday the replacement started making weird noises when I was blending. When I took the lid off the spinning blade had sheared off! Got husband on Twitter to MR got an initial reply but nothing since, will see what today brings and if nothing it's going back to Costco tomorrow! :(
