Trying to beat this thing called debt..

Yes DFD but the payment we were making was £50 a month, on top of the actual policy because I'm a learner... The guy on the phone was saying he just takes ppl off and can't do anything else and we think it might be that he didn't fully understand what we were asking of him-we don't expect the policy to be cheaper in itself but the extra payments to be removed... That's why we'll be checking the amount taking in Nov and Dec... Didn't think about admin fee though..thanks for pointing that out, it could mean November's payments till isn't the normal one
Surely though, that £50 can't carry on going out... If it's the same price I might as well stay on..:eek:0 -
Were you added on after the policy was set up if this £50 is just for you? If so then it sounds like he has given you incorrect information. They should be working it out on a pro rata basis although if you were added on afterwards then there would have been an admin fee for that at the time which would have been spread over the payments. I think I would be calling back to speak to someone who knows more about what they are doing. There are so many fees involved with insurance, I used to work for a broker so sometimes people would receive admin fees from both us as the broker and the insurance company itself.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0

Yes, that's the thing, I was additional to the policy, we have two cars both insured for H to drive. I was then added halfway through the year as a learner with an additional £50 a month, on top of the policy payment...the guy really didn't seem to know what he was talking about as he kept saying 'no, we won't be giving you a discount' but, we don't want a discount, we just want to make sure the extra payment is cancelled.. All got very complicated when it should be straightforward.... We'll keep an eye on the statements and see how it goes I think.
Might be a NSD but pretty doubtful right now.. Only got about £15 in the bank so it won't be a blow out anyway!0 -
NSD 8 on Friday, need to keep track. Slept right through last night, think that's a first for a few days and definitely first time all week I've slept til after 9 for a while.
I owe the Xmas tin £5 need to remember that too...right, I need coffee.. Back later0 -
Still not dressed... Mightnt even bother to be honest..
Just had a bit of a clean of the freezer-ashelf had got defrosted frozen berries put on the shelf and ended up with a Puddle of juice frozen onto it weeks ago. So pulled everything out on two shelves and gave them a good clean. Had a quick stock take on the Quorn fillet and sausage front, we're fine.. 32 sausages and 26 fillets. We use the fillets instead of chicken in everything from curry to casseroles. We use about 9 a week so that'll do us for about 3 weeks, but I'll be doing a big freezer shop next week when Hs been paid.
Trying to do either no or v little shopping until payday on Tues, Using some just OK mushrooms and some slightly wrinkly peppers in a lasagne for tea and tomorrow's lunch. Tomorrow we'll be using the rest of the mushrooms with some sausage and onion gravy, new potatoes and fridge lottery veg for supper.
Got stuff planned from freezer for Monday tea and also I'll make some soup for lunch, also have some Warbys pockets for a toastie to go with the soup. We'll be well fed til Tues. Think I need to start posting again on DFW challenges again, helps me to see that I am doing OK..0 -

So, Sunday ended up being a bit spendy. We went for a walk and to the nearby Co-op, I generally find it expensive so was only going to get milk and a garlic bread. When we got in we found some instant coffee I'd priced at £5.49 on my supermarket for £2.99 and Quorn sausage patties for £1.09, normally £1.50 at best or more likely £1.80. Ended up spending £13 but mainly on stocking up stuff like that, also got a 40p bag of galas. I have £5.72 left over in the bank that I'd normally send it to savings but we are going to Blackpool with my daughter and her partner and little grandson. So we're expecting to be spending today even if only on chips on the front. The plan is to call at some friends for a coffee-they live about 15mins away from Blackpool-and then head down for the lights, and some amusements (for the adults). Not planning a huge spend but will be petrol and tea to cover.
In other news I'm making a hat for grandson, trying to get the measurements sorted over the phone is quite difficult with lots of photos of heads and tape measures going backwards and forwards!
Have a good Monday everyone!0 -
Well, I managed 10/11 NSDs for Oct, I'm going to go for 11 this month and really try to crack it this time.
From my ocd over goals I did OK ish, especially on the coking and food shopping front, still need to defrost spare freezer though so as soon as I can this month that will be getting done.
We haven't finished sorting through m-i-ls stuff yet, that was planned to be done this week (by now) but on Sunday woke up in extreme ain't in his arm/shoulder and isn't really much good at anything right now. He had an appt at doctors yesterday and was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder. He's been given some extra strong painkillers and got an appointment for a steroid injection but can't be seen until 10th Nov..hoping it might have gone by then. No idea what will happen about work on Monday as he can't drive on the painkillers and he can't get to work without driving... He will have lots of marking to do by Monday so it's possible he'll be at home doing that
We've done a bit of a top up shop with it being payday yday. Got some Quorn stuff on offer in Morrisons at £1 a bag/box nuggets and burgers so we got 4 packs, then later at Mr Ts we got to 3kgbags of pasta on offer at £2.50 which is cheaper per 100g than Aldi... Or if I'm wrong it's no dearer and I love a full larder!
Off to big market about 45 mins away on bus today, can hear H snoring now so I guess his meds have kicked in! :T0 -
Sorry to hear about your H, hope the meds’ work for him, having has a steroid injection myself in the past I know how unpleasant they can be.
Sounds like you are doing well on the food front and found some bargains always good.

Thanks Reb, he's also needlephobic so that's going to be a tricky one. So far Nov has been quite spendy, or feels that way cos it's me doing it-with Hs money but still feels quite naughty. However I keep reminding myself that as he's not in work he's not spending on fuel and as he cant drive we're not going out so not spending as much as we normally would on a normal week off work. I'm off out again today trying to get some heat pads though but been told b/m might have them and we have one in walking distance. Hopefully will get them from there.0
