Can I ask your thoughts on:

    Thank you so much everyone.

WAYT - That visual imperfection won't affect the machine or power button?

Also you state that grumpycrab's suggestion could be good. Is the CPU okay as grumpycrab expresses concerns?

Finally, what are your thoughts on the Inspiron 11s on Dell Outlet priced around £150?

Thank you! Your help means a lot.

The machine has a 12 month warranty, so I would guess that the crack doesn't affect the function. But you can always give the seller a call to confirm.

Perhaps you should think about what you actually want. You seem to be looking at anything from an 11" screen to a 15.6" screen.

There is nothing on Dell Outlet for around £150. Cheapest is £190. No.
  • Amazon have a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad or two. There is an i5, SSD, 8GB ram, Win 10 Pro, £265 delivered.

The downside (and it applies to all refurbished laptops) is the potential for poor batteries and a variety of dings and minor faults. The reviews on this Amazon laptop are less than encouraging:

After lots of searching I went for this from John Lewis. No fancy spec but does everything you need and comes with a two year guarantee.

You'll need to call your local branch to check stock levels. If they have one they'll put it aside for you for three days.

    ^^

Personally, I would not. Looks good value and it will do what you want ot to do. But the Celeron CPU is a bit weedy. If it weren't for the SSD, it would be soon fit for the bin. The screen might give you a headache with prolonged use due to PWM.

Furthermore I wouldn't want to work for long periods on an 11.6" screen. Have you done so before?
I work on a 24" screen and on a 15.4" screen. My Netbook is reserved for travel, not work.

So think about whether you want a machine designed for school children.

    Thanks all, you've been great.

I think that I've nailed it down to these 3.

If you could tell me which one I should go for out of these, I'd really appreciate it.

I have had to remove the http part of the links due to being a new user to the forum.
