I'll be taking both of the contracts to my local lawyers.
From the lack of information the estate agent provided us, in the first place despite us questioning i think they're a shady bunch.
She rang me today and simply said we need to pay a month upfront and £100 for admin fees which make's it £695 on the day we move in and it's ours.
And also confirmed it's a separate tenancy.0 -

Unless the house is already a HMO I'd be very very surprised if this was accurate information.
Why would a landlord want to rent out their property in two halves, to each half of a couple, and take the risk that they only get half rent if one ups and leaves?0 -

Seems really unlikely unless there's 2 bedrooms with locks on the doors; there's also always joint responsibility for trashing the place.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
I'm not sure to be honest i don't know the ins and outs of it i think it's because i have a substantial amount of saving's and my partner doesn't but he earns £1300 + a month they've asked him for a guarantor and they haven't asked me.
Not sure tbh.0 -

Just make sure you only have a 6 month contract to start out with.0 -
Just think about, if this is a room/flat/house suitable for one unit/family/couple, why would the LL be willing to receive the rent in two halves.. if one of you terminates, they only receive half the rent. The LL likely won't find another stranger tenant to share the space and pay the half rent.0

You might have two separate tenancy agreements (pieces of paper) but they might still specify joint and several liability with the other tenant.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
