I'm out in the country with plenty of land, yet there's still a couple of neighbours spoiling the views from my garden. There's a couple who aren't terribly well, physically or mentally, who now leave rubbish bags and old items like walking frames and a commode right next to their open fence.

On the other side, there was an old lady whose fruit garden used to be immaculate, but she got a brain tumour and everything went to pot, so it's shoulder height in weeds at the moment. She's dead, so there might be a change there eventually, but it's in the lap of the gods. Hers is an equestrian property, and with those the horses always come first!

Oh, I forgot to mention, we've been doing rather a lot of building work over the last 3 years, so I do have a cement mixer, piles of blocks, rubble and about 4 dumpy bags of aggregate sitting in the front garden right now, but I'm sure people can see past that to the time when everything's landscaped......;)

Life is imperfect. At our last house it was a front garden with a rusting, orange VW camper + a motorbike in bits we had to live beside. We tried not to worry about that when we wanted to sell.

    Fairy lights? Pft!

hmm, texting you to move your bin & poking her lights into your garden sounds like shes running her own little power battle here, is she a bit older then you? of course there are bigger things to let cause irritation & maybe you could just 'let it go' but i wouldnt be surprised if she continued to 'assert' herself on you now she's got a couple of things under her belt!

post the back through & if you see her posting them back to your side pop your head out the window 'woohoo babes!! thought we agreed you'd keep your lights your side, thank youuuuu' & shut the window. just make light of it, no conversation needed you've marked her card & its dealt with but writing each other letters is just going to drag on into more & more annoyance

What do you suggest they attach the screening to?

    won't need full posts.

The way this is going you are at risk of them painting your side a colour you don't want.

Maybe sorting the boundary should have had a higher priority than the other stuff you have spent a lot of money on.

As suggested plant stuff that will block it, or forget about it.

The person will probably get bored of the tacky lights eventually also.

Is this fence on the boundary?

I would have thought you could do whatever you like to "your" side?

Yes, people can do what they want on their side, but not on the fence, if it doesn't belong to them.

Boundaries and fences are entirely separate, even if one sits on top of the other.

Obviously, if both pay and own a fence, both can play with it.
