Hard top convertible leaking

Hi

I have a 2009 Peugeot 308cc which I love. These have a folding metal roof. However it has begun leaking profusely above both rear passenger seats when we have a good downpour!

Peugeot want £96/hr for labour to fix it, so I'm hoping someone will have an alternative garage I could use.

I'm in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Regards to all

David

OH has a 206 cc which had the same problem, but maybe slightly less. We gave it a silicon squirt (3in1 silicon lubrcant)in the joints which did the trick. Not a permanent fix but lasts a while. Hope it works for you if you try it.

Once you've got it fixed buy some Gummi Pflege and treat all the rubber seals once a year to keep them in tip top condition. It isn't expensive but will help your rubber seals last.

Thanks WJ, I'll get some for DD's pug107 which leaks around the passenger door. They did put a new/different seal on but it still sometimes leaks.

I sometimes get a similar problem with the rubber seals on a convertible, the advice I was offered was to spray WD40 into the seals to help rejuvenate them, leave it five or ten minutes, wipe the excess off and then wipe silicon spray on them. I did it a couple of times, it seems to have helped but I can't say it doesn't need doing again.

Often it's because the rubber seal either dries out, or becomes deformed. I'd say a "proper" fix is to replace the rubber seal but that might be a significant expense, either for the seal, or the time involved in removing and replacing enough trim to get at it.
