Hi,
Moved into our new property Monday 31st July.
Do Connells come and remove the sold sign? My boyfriend has took it out the ground and left in by the side of the house but we haven't contacted them to come and move it.
Will they charge us for it if we take it to the tip and dump it?
Thanks

Connells won't care what you do with it; they have trousered your vendor's cash and that's all they care about.0 -
A sold sign is good advertising for their business, so they're not going to be too speedy in taking it away. Especially if you don't ask/tell them to. Given signs cost them money, they're usually happy to do this, but fear not, you won't be charged - if there's any charge, it's billed to the vendor who employed them.0

My first neighbour lay it down under the hedge... it was still there when they sold it. I think the new owners now have that one and the one they got when they bought the house.
I'd give it 3 months, then take the advertising bit down the rubbish tip and keep the post - because you never know when you'll want a handy post
Of course, the advertising bit could be handy too .... so that might be worth keeping if you've got a "pile of random bits of wood/similar that might come in handy".0 -
We've asked agents to take them away in the past and they have.0

We moved into our current property, took the sign down, rang the EA who promised to contact their 'signage partner' to come and get it.
Three months later, I chainsawed the pole up for firewood and binned the actual sign.
Whatever you decide to do, I wouldn't spend minute or hours worrying about it - keep it, bin it, burn it, whatever, but it should be way down your just moved into a new house to do list.0 -
I bought my house about 11 years ago.
I kept the sign intact for a while and then used the post to prop up a fence for about 7 years.
About a year ago both post and sign went on a bonfire.0 -
I'd call the agents and ask them to remove it, and then bin it if they don't collect within a week or so.
You don't *have* to call them - after all, they know the house has sold, but I would make one call or e-mail.

My neighbour was delighted to get mine, he uses it for building work. I was more delighted to get rid of it!EU expat working in London0

Just ring the estate agent and ask them to collect it. That's what we've done each time and the signs disappeared within a few days.0

I would send one email saying pick up within 7 days or it goes to the tip.
It belongs to the agent so technically you should give them a chance to pick it up just to cover yourself in the unlikely event that they ask about it in the future.0
