Are you saying that the recess is wider then any doors you can find?
Because doors rarely fit without cutting down..............
As for searching, don't use Google, you just get the first 7 pages full of results you don't want, from companies selling doors for £600 a piece......... One good place is Howdens, but they are trade only IIRC, got myself a nice external door from them for about £40, it was easily as good as the stuff some companies want £200+ for.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Work pal has a new front door from ebay - given the things can be cut down, worth looking for the oversize things & planning trimming down?
As given summer dry shrink & winter wet expansion, almost no door stays the same size all year round, so it's as well to know who has the kit to keep any external door cooperative in the winter months!0 -

Yeah. One door is wider than the standard standard dimensions and one door is more narrow. Do you know how much (approx) it would cost to get a person in to hang/shave some wood/add some softwood beading to the door to make them fit?
Nice one on door for £40 - one of those things that I can't believe are so expensive! I do want to replace the back external door - guess I need to get to know someone at Howdens
Thanks!0 -

I did my internal doors myself, they were a bit of a swine, 1970's house, I reckon everyone was stoned when they built this place, some door frames were as much as 1 inch narrower at the bottom than the top.
I don't know what it would cost in man hours, but it took upto 4 hours per door for the really bad ones, it took under an hour for the only door that didn't need much planing. The doors then hand to come down again for staining/painting (solid wood doors, not those eggbox things).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
