  • Just a question guys, I'm very close to my debt snowball payment.
    I get paid next week....
Do I just keep adding to this thread. I'm still trying to find my way around it all.
I am wishing my days away at the moment, I keep checking my spreadsheet and my bank account.
Just making sure I've done it right.
    Ready for my first snowball......
So sad that I'm also very excited!
My spending diary is looking very thin too which is a first for me. I have had to nip into Aldi and I was over my budget by 2.00 but I did need this veg and I spent only what I needed which was 3.74....although I'm over my budget it just means next shop I won't spend as much to make up for it and I'm calling the week before pay day, poverty week and I cook whatever there is and I'm not buying anything.

Last week my friend who is a market research officer has signed me up for a review and I'm having an hour interview next week and I actually get paid! She said she's never asked me before as she thought I was too busy, but because I'm very chatty and opinionated she's putting me forward....
My first research....I don't know anything else other than its next week and right up my street.
That money will be put towards my first snowball and it's an extra chunk.
So just checking in as Bexster said to do so, but I'll check in on my first snowball.......but not sure about logging it and doing it as a new thread....
    Thank you

  • What do you do for work?
  • What an inspiring read! I've subscribed to your thread because I've really enjoyed reading it. Wjat you have written has really resonated with me, only a week or so ago I started a thread to help get myself out of debt and got some really good advice and was advised to do an SOA, but have been a bit scared to so. Having read your thread however, I'm feeling really inspired to do one a will make it my priority to do so when I return home from holiday. I really wish you the best of luck, I shall enjoy your upcoming installments!

    Good morning,
Thank you so much, that really made me smile, despite all this, with the money issues, which is a bit of a drag, I am still finding it amazing at all the lovely threads I read and so supportive of each other....
I was scared too, facing up to the reality of it all, and it hasn't been just a quick journey for me, it was a lot thought which had to be turned into action, but I didnt know what to do or where to turn, then doing the SOA, I did get a bit upset as I couldnt work it all out....but after sitting there and looking at it all, I just thought I can either cry over it all and panic, or i sort it out as i would every thing else. Since my first post, I have had support, words of encouragement and my friend pushing me along....
For my own benefit and just to see the reality of my spending (this is really sad) but I worked it out from all my statements just how much i spend in the 'nipping into the shop for milk' shops, the getting the petrol and 'i will just have a look around here before i pay for my petrol shops' and oooh look at that pretty thing shops!
I am very ashamed to say that when I look around at all my purchases, they are either not here, not used. I also have to have a really full fridge because my eyes see that this is the done thing, so I buy (used to but dont now) but I should only buy what I need. Plus I also used to buy a lot for the homeless...I can only give my time now. Anyway, the amount of money spent on these shops, that were not needed, but made me feel either better in some way, but the permanent thing that has happened that in the long term this debt is going to make me extremely miserable, compared to the short term 'hit' of buying something that made me feel good for a little time, I am not sure why I bought so much stuff, but what I do know is that the total came to a very cringey amount.....
So I have had to really look into myself and this has been hard for me as I need to stop it, or I will never live the life that i crave and my goals will never be reached so I had to find a way how to reach my goals hence why I came on here and i really am glad that i did!
So hopefully, by the time I am 43 it will be paid off!
I am also very grateful for this site, I have to say that I have had some really good advice on here and its just been great actually.

I will have a look at your threads, I am just on here very quickly as I need to know what to do about a diary - I have my answers now from debtslayer....
Just over a week to go now....and I start to pay towards my 'debt free by 43' debts - feels really good...I feel very motivated to sustain this.

Will have a look at your thread and follow too!
Thank you so much for your kind words too - you made someone smile today!:T

I agree with all of this. looking at some of the APRs you have, it's something worth considering. It's not for everyone, but it worked for me as I was settled in my home with no plans to go anywhere in the medium term.

Once you learn how to budget properly, you will never want or need credit again anyway, so you should at least seriously examine the option.

One final piece of advice - if you haven't already, dump the protein and vitamin supplements! With any kind of balanced diet, you can get all the protein and vitamins naturally. I'm an academic researcher in health and fitness, so I'm basing this view on available scientific evidence, not hearsay!

Good luck in your (supplement free!) journey :)

Just replying to this, again, and to say that its very good advice, and because I am super annoyed, I have honestly just thought about doing this. I have started a new thread with debt free, and yesterday 4 companies, after speaking and re speaking took double money yesterday, which i have had to use my set aside money to pay and cover it.
I cant tell you how organised I am, and the amount of work I have put into this to get it right and yesterday they took literally, on the wrong date too, double money.
I am honestly tempted to cancel every dd and do my snowball on my terms....
I am just putting in a complaint letter now....but this is very tempting, I know I probably wont.....
    just having a rant!!!
But then I thought about your post and I just thought, if they cant even have the decency to get this right, then they can get lost and I will do this on my terms....all this from just changing a bank account and its a good job I had set aside money - complaint going their way right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
