Mobile Data in Mexico

My partner is due to go to Mexico in a few weeks. Obviously, it's very expensive to use her contract outside of the EU but we wondered if there were alternatives such as a good SIM deal (if not for data, for texts/calls but data is preferable).

I've looked online a lot - some options such as buying a SIM when in Mexico but this may be difficult. I don't know if anybody has any experience of this. Any suggestions?

I think a local SIM will be the way to go. USA networks may have decent roaming there now, but I don't know of others. There are global roaming SIMs, but they tend not to have decent data bundles.

These may or may not have decent international call rates (I haven't looked). If not then also use a callthrough provider with local access numbers.

She would happen to be on EE? they offer free roaming in Mexico on Max plans (calls, texts and data come from standard allowance), if on EE it might be worth asking if it’s possible to change price plan.
