Hi,
Last year I missed a number of payments to a clothing shop credit account. Approx 3-4 months before it was then defaulted/closed. Prior to that I always made regular payments and never missed a payment.
The reason for missing the payments was because I fell ill, went off sick and ended up in a hospital ward [MH reasons]. I was unable to make contact with the provider or my bank.
Furthermore, there was no direct debit on the account, otherwise I probably would have been OK.
I've spoken to the company regarding this account and advised that what's happened.
I've spoken to my GP who are currently putting supporting evidence regarding last year. How do I angle my letter to them?
Do I have a good reason for getting the default removed?

Possibly. You just explain the circumstances to them and hope for the best.
There's no angle needed.0 -

A default is a factual recording of how you ran the account. It's unfortunate that you were ill/in hospital, however I don't see how that is going to get the default removed.
If anything, your best bet would likely be to agree to pay off the full amount owed with a clause that the company will remove the default if you do so as a gesture of goodwill.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
