I'm surprised it took this long.
GPS/box scanning data has been core in RMs collection checking for a decade.
When it becomes mandatory to record posting using the app whilst standing by the post box I will no longer be a panelist though I am guessing that initially there will be even more incentive offered prior to that to move everyone to point of posting data entry. It's bad enough to have to use your own money to send parcels but data usage on a phone is a step too far. My phone is for urgent essential calls only to keep cost down to what I can afford. Good luck to all of you who can get a location fix at all post boxes. Geographical phone coverage is patchy in my area.0 -

Take your phone home or do it with free wi-fi somewhere. You can alter the time posted on the app.GONE ENGLAND0 -

I have no problems using the app. What I object to is the new prize draws is only for panelists who "enter an item at the post box and get GPS validation". These are TNS own words in quotes. This creates a two tier panelist system. I use the GPS location system on my phone now, for other apps but no mobile data. There are areas near me where I have to wait several minutes to get a GPS fix. I consider myself lucky if I get a fix in 3 minutes, it is usually much longer and sometimes I can't get a location fix at all.
Hope it is quicker where everyone else lives.0 -

Due to you not using data you are likely slowing down the GPS fix.
Phones use data & GPS.
It takes under a second fro my phone to GPS lock most places.
Realistically we are heading to 2020. RM no doubt require TNS to provide data, to back up survey responses due to false data from rogue panelists (RMs term)
Theses days its not a massive financial cost for a low data phone tariff and if its required by RM,they pay the piper so they select the tune.0 -

From that I assume you live in a large town for good signal strength. Some places near me don't have a mobile phone signal. A phones GPS location fixes rely phone masts and satellites to determine location. Poor or non existent mobile phone reception makes this more difficult.
As you say if I don't like it I can leave. TNS no doubt have a large pool of willing panelists to call on to take up the slack for those who don't wish to use the app at point of posting. Having read the reviews of the app it sounds frustrating to use and often crashing. Sounds like it was not properly test prior to release.0 -

Well the poster doesn't use data, they are relying purely on GPS.
So phone signal quality is irrelevant.0 -

Well keep in mind. RM use android handsets on the EE network for their own box scanning data.
its not some magical system.
just software skinned over Android on old hardware.
So the phone coverage will be just as patchy for RM too.0 -

I used to do Royal Mail and then moved house. I would now like to join again! The website link on the first post isn’t working, can anyone send an updated website address?
Thanks in advance!0
