Why was your car insurance so expensive? Presumably you are not paying for your DHs insurance?
Yes it was my husbands car insurance, we separated the month after I paid it (doh!) but he is paying me back £100 a month
I paid mine on the card too
Hadn't used a credit card in about 6 months before June
It's not 0% so want to clear asap (tempted to use the £1,500 savings but then I would have zero if anything were to happen in the house, maybe I could send £500 to the card)
I have 0% BT offers with Virgin so could transfer it over0 -

I would use £500 of the savings and not balance transfer it if you intend clearing within 2 months. You will still have your £1000 emergency fund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Yes I have decided to do that
I bought some new shoes today, desperately need some new work shoes as I've been wearing the same pair every day since March
I did see some in Next for £28 but didn't buy them, I went to Sainsbury's and saw a pair for £20 and got those instead.
Today's spend
Shoes £20
Packed lunch items £3.95 (Son has to take a packed lunch to holiday club, this amount will last a few days)
All the direct debits went out today and there is £1,136 in the bank to last me 3 weeks. I have a full tank of petrol, so just food shopping to do and that's mainly Aldi
One evening next week Im meeting people I used to work with for a curry, I'll be driving so shouldn't cost more than £30. That's my only planned extra spend for this month
Be very interested to see how much I still have left before pay day now Im on my own, husband was the spender
Spoke to him yesterday and he moaned about being almost skint and he only got paid on the 25th July
Now there's karma :rotfl:0 -
Sorry to hear about DH. Be careful he doesn't go and get a credit card and hope you'll pay that off for him again.0

I hope he is paying you child maintenance and repaying you for his insurance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thank you, if he does get a credit card then that'll be his issue, I certainly wont be contributing0 -

Total spends over the weekend...……………. £3 !
Saturday we just had a lazy day at home and yesterday we went into town with mother in law so I spent £3 on parking
Cant remember the last time I spent so little on a weekend! So chuffed
Think I need to get out more, but that costs money :rotfl:0 -
Just paid £400 off the Barclaycard, new balance £1,8580

Good going on Barclaycard repayment and low spends over the weekend. Speaks volumes that you are doing well on the low spending and your ex is skint very quickly after payday. I do sometimes wonder if couples who have different attitudes to spending can make things work long term. My DH is a fritterer but has got better over the years and now our finances are secure I don't worry as much but in the early years there were many many arguments. It just makes life so much easier if you are both on the same page.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
